Hot-springs Gpx For Canada/b.c.

Is there someone out there with a hobby of Hot-Springing that they would like to share.

:unsure:I am looking for a .GPX files with waypoints for Hot-Springs and/or Waterfalls in B.C. Canada, if there is any such thing floating around in cyberspace. Even just a list of waypoints for the above would be nice. All I can seem to find are U.S. and I seldom go there.

If anyone can help that would be great!

Thanks!

Of course, sharing GPX file information with non premium members is against the Terms of Use for the site.

Giving you some waypoints, as DBC has done, is fine. Thanks DBC.

Those do sound like good future Waymarking categories. I saw swimmng holes, but no waterfalls category. Those sound like excellent targets. I did find hot springs, but only 5 have been waymarked so far.

Then I guess it's ok for "non premium" members like myself to share and receive from other "non premium" members.

Thanks!

Ah, so this topic is not about geocaching then?

Maybe if we talked about making these waymarks and trying to get a category going or something then maybe this one will not fly off to the off topic section?

I do want to see the topic keep going since it is a great example of Waymarking at its best, so lets see if we can relate this to geocaching/Waymarking. I hope you can see where I'm coming from.

I wouldn't say it's NOT about geocaching. There are geocaches at waterfalls and hot springs. But then it's NOT specifically a discussion about geocaching either. Much like it's NOT specifically a discussion about Waymarking, even though there are waymarks at waterfalls and hotsprings.

And if it turns out that there aren't caches or waymarks at specific waterfalls and hotsprings, digging up the locations of all these notables will give people ideas on where to place future caches and where to create future waymarks.

So, it is NOT specifically a Waymarking or a geocaching conversation, but it does relate to both peripherally.

(But I do see where you're coming from G-man. Have you noticed how remarkably similar our icons are?)

So then the Original Poster should request a "Hot Springs" Waymark Catagory? If the SEARCH feature was operational then they would probably find that it has been suggested already. Sounds like an obvious 'want' to me.

There is a Waymark Catagory for Waterfalls already, but the site does not currently have the ability to provide GPX files for Waymarks (Bootron says it is coming).

Until then.... those in the 2% that seem to like Waymarking (or at least admit it) will wait for the Catagory Creation Option to become available, and the add on features that should follow.

But this topic has no bearing on the Canada Forum for Geocaching... perhaps it should be moved to the Waymarking Forums. As much as it might be interesting to see this develop, in my opinion it should develop in the proper area since here it will go no where.

If however the intention is to create a debate about the creation of GPX files, then start a new thread... and argue it out there... but both mtn-man is right (if it's not about Geocaching, this isn't the place to talk about it) and dogsbreathcanada is right (GPX is not a proprietary file format owned by Groundspeak and can be created by anyone).

I think the original poster asked an innocent question, don't argue semantics here please.

Yes, it is Canada related in so much as the data is restricted to Canadian Hotsprings and Canadian Waterfalls.

If the OP could get a Waymark Catagory for "Canadian Hotsprings" or "Canadian Waterfalls" then they could easily gather the Lat/Long for these items. If their intention is to place physical Geocaches near them, it would be a great way to build a database.

Realistically most people cannot maintain physical Geocaches across Canada, let alone a Province, even if they were only in close proximity to a Hotspring or Waterfall (Maritimes excluded of course). So the idea of finding locations to place a physical Geocache doesn't apply if it is for one account alone.

If the intention is to create such a database, Geocaching is not an effective way to do it. That also is why Waymarking was created. So a Catagory Owner could create a list or database of related items across a wide geographical region due to interest in that Catagory or to provide information to other players by sharing a local location that surplants a Virtual since that is no longer an option.

The OP wants a list of locations that meet a certain criteria... Not possible by Geocaching, totally possible by Waymarking (eventually).

re: Hot-springs Gpx For Canada/b.c.

Sorry everyone, I didn't want this to turn into a debate etc. I am new at GPS and just wanted a "Canadian" site to post my question to gather some waypoints for info. in the area. I just downloaded a GPX program for my GPS and thought that was the best way to input the info into my GPS. I thought this, being a popular site for geocachers and GPS users who might stumble accross some in there travels would be the best place to find the info I was looking for.

I am going to try to find another Message Forum someplace else to ask for the info.

Again I am sorry for all the hastle I have caused and I thank you who were trying to help me and did help with some of the info I was trying to attain.

I will attempt to close this message string after this message.
