H to the Bizzle! Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 I've been trying to figure out how to transfer the old LC that I assumed control of "TANKS FOR THE MEMORIES" into a Waymarking category. All e-mails have gone un-answered so any help would be appreciated.

Sorry ! DaanVindZe But others now have dibs. Jake39 If I were you I would just look at the locationless caches on GC.com and then do a search on Waymarking if it does not come up. I would post a request that you would like to create a catagory. Siince the time expired for the owners to transfer they are now fair game to us all., so there is no need to contact the owner.
+geo50chevy Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 I have 2 virtual caches, should I switch them to Waymarks and then archive them?
+chstress53 Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 If I were you I would not archive those virtuals they are grandfathered in on gc.com. We all can still enjoy them and log them. Please do not archive virtuals!!! It is only the locationless caches that are archived. As soon as the new format for group control comes out we will all be able to create new waymarks in some way. What I suggest is that if your virtuals fit into one of the current categories create a waymark. but no need to archive the virtuals
+Hillbilly Harry Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I think all Lc's should be allowed to be transfered, because I did not find out about them till they were ready to start to end the program. There is alot of them that I could have gotten. For that reason I think Other people and also myself could injoy them. Thanks for letting me add my two cents. Hillbilly Harry

Hillbilly Harry The owners of all locationless caches, such as the originator of this thread, received an e-mail from Groundspeak on August 15, 2005, to notify them of the upcoming transition to Waymarking.com. Owners were alerted that their caches would be archived at the end of the year, and were offered the opportunity to convert their locationless caches into equivalent Waymarking categories. Owners who were not premium members were offered a free premium membership for a trial period, since at that time the beta version of Waymarking.com was only available to premium members. So, it is unfortunate that some locationless cache owners did not respond to this invitation by converting over to Waymarking prior to the stated deadline. Hopefully, once the process for establishing new Waymarking categories is up and running, some of these "lost" locationless cache categories can be re-established by new category management groups.

I was not the owner of the LC cache that I mentioned in my original post at the time. I do hope that many of the old "lost" locationless caches can be up and running on Waymarking so that they'll continue to be enjoyed.
