+pnwxbcat
It's not the ultimate geocaching car, but I drive my '06 Scion xB. Works pretty good, so far... still use my 4x4 for off-road caches. Quote Link to comment
+MoonCatKDT & Peanut
We have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee if we need it, but moreso we use a 2002 Ford Focus, because, well it's cheaper on gas! A lot of the caches around here you can drive to the trailhead, hike for the day and make it back to the car. We also have a Travel Bug Decal for our Focus, named Focus Buggie Quote Link to comment
Andronicus
Bad pic, but here it is Chevey Equinox leased for us by....Tupperware (my mugglewife sells Tupperware). It isn't 4by, but so far have only been stuck once (in deep snow on a mountain). Quote Link to comment
+E = Mc2
Here's my personal cachemobile, a Honda Fit. I've also found a couple of caches while driving one of these: (and no, that's not 'shopped, they really did misspell the name) To answer your second question: The best Geocaching vehicle is someone else's 4wd! +QuiltinNana
We use either my daughter's 2003 Ford Explorer named "Dora the Explorer" or my 2009 Mercury Mariner named "Star." Both are 4WD, but we haven't really needed it yet. Great to have the big back area to carry jugs of water both to drink and to wash off with. +mblatch
Most of my caching is done using my 2008 Jeep Patriot. Not the best choice of vehicle for serious off-roading excursions, but it gets the job done in most situations. Sugar sand...no problem. Deep mud ... a little more of an issue (which gipsie can verify since she had to yank me out of the mud in the NJ Pine Barrens once haha). Quote Link to comment
+gnjeepn
07 Jeep 4dr Rubicon with a warn 9500lb winch. If that won't get us there I fall back on my 93 Wrangler with 6 inches of lift and 37 inch tires. Quote Link to comment

+JohnnyVegas
It depends on how far I am driving, close to home I use my 2002 Nissan Fronteir, For longer drives my 2010 Mustang Quote Link to comment
+PLMerry
Toyota Matriz XRS is my primary geocar. Small zippy little manual 5 speed with front wheel drive that can get into small places and is good at maneuvering within traffic. It comes complete with a removable security system as visible in the picture below. When the situation dictates though I do also have a Ford Expedition with full tow package to pull the matrix out of the mud, snow, ..... Quote Link to comment

+tz2008u
Just wondering what kind of vehicle do people drive while Geocaching. Do you have 4x4's for the off-road cache's? Are there road warriors that mainly stick to the ones that you can drive right up to, or hike back? Quote Link to comment

I have once cached while driving one of these, it was a DNF as I only had avery short time stopped at the red. And I have recently bought a 3.2 metre Aquilla Inflatable, with 9.9 Yamaha on the back for the very wet caches. Quote Link to comment

+E_ZIG_A
Nissan GU Patrol, 4 inch lift, big chunky mud terrains, steel barwork all around, spotlights, radio antennas, onboard GPS system (which is totally useless for geocaching!) - that's my only car, so it does all the offroad stuff with ease and it's fun manoeuvering it around in tight city alleys and streets ...... ok that sucks, but we generally park in the vicinity of a few caches and then wander around sniffing them out - the more walking for the Geo-Beast and I the better! +Frowny Face Society
Two choices for us also: For most caches we use a 2003 Ford Ranger Ext. cab 4x4. If we think we need more than that, we take the 2006 Ford F250 Crew 4x4. Its nice having both for Idaho's mountains and deserts. Quote Link to comment
+isjustus4
I used to primarily cache with my wifes 09 Camry Hybrid. Great on gas, and I really liked the comfort of it. She decided recently that it was time for a divorce, so no more Camry for me.... My cache retrieving vehicle was an 02 lifted Avalanche, but that recently got traded for an 11 Silverado Crewcab Z71 4x4. Don't think I'll be taking it down any tight trails like I used to with the Avalanche. The AV, at least had plastic trim to prevent scratching the paint. Don't want any scratches in the new truck!! +CruiseGuy
Walk, ride a bike, take the bus, take the train, 2003 Subaru, 2006 Charger, or 2000-something Durango. Not restricted to a particular mode of transportation. Oh! Did I mention... Take a Cruise Ship! Edited February 27, 2011 by CruiseGuy Quote Link to comment

+simpjkee
I drive a 2011 Chevy Cruze. I haven't driven it off road yet, but it's gotten me to the caches I've seeked. If I'm planning an off road excursion, I'll swap my car for my folks Jeep or truck. Quote Link to comment

+cerberus1
My other 2/3rds traded in her '07 4dr Jeep for an '11 (I believe she just liked the color.) She's got the mountain/rock vehicle. My last died way too soon and I just picked up an '11 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd (w/ a hemi ) This one has power inverters built in, so "staying over" at distant spots is as simple as pluggin' in the coffee pot. This one'll be the road vehicle when we're together. We also (both) have Harleys (hers is a T.B.) to save a bit on gas when in warmer weather. Quote Link to comment
+4Rocker
2008 FJ Cruiser, well built. Quote Link to comment
+Galaad
I've tried real hard to drown my 2001 Honda Civic going through washed-out road and mud holes on forest trail. It's a good tough little car, easy on the maintenance and the gas. I now drive a Subaru Impreza (which I really like to drive) but I was reminded by close family that it doesn't float either... +Oxymoron
In the UK, small is usually best. There are few areas where you would go off road and lanes tend to be narrow. We use a Toyota Aygo. Turns on a sixpence, can park in the smallest of spaces and is light enough to lift if we get stuck! Quote Link to comment
