alistair_uk
It looks like I will be driving down the A1 from Tyneside to Hertfordshire this week and will have two to three hours spare to stop off an do some caching. Can you recommend any caches that are either quick diversions from the journey or a set of caches within a couple of miles of the road that you think I would enjoy. Quote Link to comment
+harrogate hunters
I am sure someone will provide a complete map of the road with caches, but in the meantime here are two at wetherby.... Both a couple of minutes diversion with parking ! Peas in a pod Building Bridges Quote Link to comment
+Haggis Hunter
If you are also using the A1 when you come to Edinburgh, then there are loads of caches along the coast. Do a search from St. Abbs. If you don't have maping let me know and I will put together a bookmark list for you. But you doing a search and putting it onto mapping software would be a lot quicker. +Pharisee
The parking for this one... one of mine, I'm afraid... GCQQX2 is just a few yards off the A1 at Biggleswade. The cache, a straightforward traditional, is a modest but pleasant walk beside the River Ivel. Quote Link to comment
+Alibags
The Doncaster Finningly Airport TB Hotel is a short diversion off the A1, just South of Doncaster (as the name might suggest). What's this? M1 not good enough for you? Quote Link to comment
+Paul & Ros
If you fancy a nice easy walk and some wildlife instead of a drive up cache I can recommend Twitchers Paradise just off the A1 near Castleford. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...de-3cc6915df402 Quote Link to comment

+choccymandm
How far down into Hertfordshire are you coming? If you're down as far as junction 5 - Welwyn Garden City you've got 2 pretty good ones close together A Bridge 2 Far and Bridging The Gap plus a few more in the vicinity if you have the time. davester
If you can make the 10 minute drive to Harrogate from the A1 there are more caches than you can shake a soiled stick at! Quote Link to comment

alistair_uk
Well thank you all. I have short-listed all the suggestions. Weather permitting I have decided to stop off a while around North Yorkshire an explore and a couple of caches and then cache my way down the A1 until I run out of light. Strangely my family don’t live a million miles away from Welwyn so already have A Bridge 2 Far and Bridging The Gap on my to do list. As for Harrogate, I don’t think I will make a stop this time but will save them for a weekend visit some time. Thank you once again, I will report back. Quote Link to comment
