Cash For Items

If I find an item that I really like but do not have anything of similar or higher value on me, is it Ok as far as etiquette is concerned to leave some cash behind instead? Thanks in advance for any answers.

Its not the preferred method, but I don't think anyone is going to drag you out of bed and tar and feather you for doing it.

 

I do know people who exclusively leave Wheresgeorge bills so if they see something nice they will leave a bunch.

I've seen people leave 20 bills. of course it's while I'm caching with them and I can't just reach in and grab it for my trade.

Did leave once, one canadian dollar for a canadian quarter and gave it to a kid I know who collects them.

I left one of these, but mostly because you don't see them much in the states. Can't remember what I took in exchange.

Cachers hereabouts sometimes leave Sacajawea dollars and I've seen a few of the new buffalo nickels lately. I sometimes come across caches with spare change, but not too often. As Brian said, not the preferred swag, but not impermissible.

 

Edit: That $2 Canandian is a cool coin! I'd love to come across one of those.

I have on several occasions left Canadian "Toonies". I also left a Mint sealed set of canadian proof's from 1968. THats just part of my game. I hope its ok.
