Henki Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 We've just hidden our first cache, and we're itching to do more. Can anyone provide me with some tips on where to find those little ziploc plastic bags that people put the logs in? Also, there's a local cacher who uses these great magnetic containers that are plastic and look almost like a closed knife sheath. Any ideas on where to find them? Thanks for any info! Quote
BlueDeuce Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 The Glad freezer ziplock ones seem pretty tough to me. Quote
Henki Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 Oops, sorry, I was looking for the tiny ones that are used for micro logs. But thanks for answering! Quote
the hermit crabs Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Little ziplocks can be found in craft stores. Quote
BlueDeuce Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Yep, your local craft store or even the craft section of your local stuffmart wil have them. I use them for foreign coins I use as swag. Cheap, yet protective. Quote
Henki Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 ~smacking my forehead~ Thanks, I never even THOUGHT of a craft store. duh! Quote

fox-and-the-hound Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 (edited) We've been using Ziplock's snack bags. They're in every grocery store around. They're half the size or smaller than a sandwich bag, reasonably strong and come in a box of 50. Edited January 13, 2006 by fox-and-the-hound Quote
OzGuff Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Office supply stores will also likely have the ultra-small bags. Quote
Poidawg Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Michaels Crafts sells smaller ziplock type bags in bulk, even smaller ones can be found in bead stores. Quote
Thrak Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 My local craft stores do NOT have them! I found some at a local cigar store and I've heard that someone else found them at a cigarette store. However, I finally had a brain flash and figured out where I want to go look for the really small ones. I'm going to contact the coin dealers. Many of the "small" ones I've seen are still a bit big. I think that coin dealers will likely have the very small bags in stock. I'm going to check one tomorrow to see. I'm off to "The Penny Ranch" tomorrow to check. Quote

Veska Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I found my small ziplock baggies on ebay. They're a great size for small items and I'm thinking would probably fit in a micro. Quote
GIDEON-X Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 (edited) Get my Little Bags at Wal-Mart Craft section (3 different sizes)(2"X3" 3"X4" 4"X6")........... Edited January 19, 2006 by GIDEON-X Quote
Henki Posted January 19, 2006 Author Posted January 19, 2006 (edited) Ah, figured out that the item I'm trying to find is a magnetic key locker that holds approximately 6 keys. I already had the hide-a-key thing, but I'd never seen the plastic key locker deal. Found one at a cache the other day and used Google to track down the maker of the thing. I don't know how to add photos to this post, but here's the link to the key locker I was looking for. key locker Thanks for all the help! Edit: added link Edited January 19, 2006 by Henki Quote
Kerstin76 Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Office stores like Staples have small Ziplock bags. They are in the section with envelopes (at least in my one); look for "poly bags" on their website. Quote
Faith the Aquariaqueen Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Also the local coin/stamp shop will have them. Quote
DaMoores Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Our local Industrial liqudators sells those itty bitty zip locs, Something like a $1/100 Quote
Former Hawkeye Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I found some at a Dollar store-a little yellow tint from age, but that didn't bother me. Quote
Thrak Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Get my Little Bags at Wal-Mart Craft section (3 different sizes)(2"X3" 3"X4" 4"X6")........... 2x3 is way too big to fit well inside a micro. There are much smaller bags made - it's just finding them that is a pain. They are easy to find if you want to buy 1,000 or so but I really don't need that many. Quote
sbell111 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I found the really small ones at a local Hobby Lobby. Quote
GIDEON-X Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 1.25 X 1.25 inches................ ebay................ Quote
