Tbs Lost And Owner Does Not Remove From Cache Page

I am not sure that this topic was brought up prior. I looked and did not see it.

It is VERY annoying when a TB turns up missing and it is noted on the cache page that it is missing but the TB Owner does not remove it. It seems that I see TBs that are left in caches for months and years when it is not there.

Is there a way for the cache owner to remove this TB so that people do not really think it is there?

If not should they be allowed too? :(

Both the cache owner and the bug owner can mark a bug as missing, but sometimes neither one does.

If it bothers you enough, you could send an email to either or both. Sending an email to contact@geocaching.com might work too. Include the GC number for the cache and the TB number.

The bug owner doesn't see all the cache notes of 'the bug is missing' they are just waiting to hear from it.

But don't the TB owners know that the Travel Bug is missing ? If so, can they remove it from the page.

Since the TB owner only see notes posted on the bug they do not see cache postings stating the bug is missing. Considering that you can go months without hearing from your bug you tend not to check the cache page where the bug is sitting and read through the notes.

To answer the second part, yes. Once its noticed the Tb is actually missing, both the TB owner and/or the owner of the cache its reportly in, can move the the TB to 'location unknown'.

The travel bug owner may elect to leave the missing travel bug in the cache as a means of reminding the cacher that they retrieved the travel bug from the cache.

The cache owner may also elect to leave the missing travel bug in the cache as a means of reminding the cacher that they retrieved the travel bug from the cache.

The travel bug owner and the cache owner may also cumulatively elect to leave the travel bug listed as a permanent and caustic reminder that a travel bug was removed from the cache and a travel bug owner is out there wondering what became of their traveler.

Some TB owners are obssessed, and some have SO many Tb's that it is hard to track them all, all of the time.

I now have 73 activated, and 8 more on order. Within the next couple months, and with geocoins on order, I imagine I will have about 100 out in the world. If you email me that my TB isn't there, I'll move it to an unknown location. But, I don't check my TB pages every day now and don't have each cache they are sitting in on a watch list to see if the cache is muggled or lost.

If it bothers you, send kind emails and maybe either the TB owner or cache owner will label it unknown.
