jupilli Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Heips, ESA has indicated that the EGNOS system is now in preproduction stage, the 'testbed' is now completed. I tested my GPSr today: After a weeks Power Off time I switched it ON. In a minute it had three satellites locked. In ten minutes it indicated WAAS signal (I assume it is EGNOS in Europe). In 15 minutes it had better than 10 m accuracy. In an hour it had steady 2m accuracy and was swithed OFF by me. Have YOU seen any better accuracy or anything else better functionality lately ?? SEE ESA Performance pages here. PS: I am unable to use the SEARCH function here in forums, so I was unable to find if there is an open discussion for this kind of matters already !! Is anybody able to use SEARCH on these days ?? Quote
Maxxy Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I try my 60C today in the car... 30 sec and +- 2 meter. I didn't look was there Egnos locked, but I have extra antenna on the roof of the car. The weather was bad, rainy and windy. Quote

jupilli Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 Two more days of testing and the WAAS (as my GPSr indicates it) has been available in couple of minutes with good accuracy. However I still have not seen better accuracy than 2m. Is this the best you have seen or can I expect to see some day even better ?? Quote
mikahe Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Yesterday I tested with Garmin GPSMAP 76cs with built-in antenna in Tampere. In an open place I got varying connection to satellite number 33, which was probably the one that was delivering EGNOS information to Garmin. 3-4 ordinary GPS satellites got the 'D' indication, but not all of them. The shown accuracy was therefore no better than 3 metres. Quote
