This makes Garmin the first major GPS designer and manufacturer to announce direct support for Mac OS X. --- Read the full press realease. Looks like everyone's calls and emails to Garmin finally worked. Great job! -- Karl Smith Author - Mac SimpleGPS www.macsimplegps.com Quote Link to comment

Mustcache
Great news! I'll be a long year before we'll be able to finally use Mapsource on our Macs. Then I can FINALLY trash that Wintel box! Quote Link to comment

+fauxSteve
This is super news! First Google Earth, then Garmin support, and even a new batch of laptops today (we'll see how this whole Intel thing goes). What a day! My backup PC is up for sale as soon as I can upload maps to my GPSr from my Mac. Quote Link to comment

+aka Monkey
I wonder how much of this has to do with Apple's switch to Intel? Either way, color me ecstatic! Quote Link to comment
+Thrak
Perhaps it is because Mac finally cracked 4% of the market share. You really shouldn't be too surprised at them for not supporting such a small segment if it wasn't cost efficient. Perhaps there is now a chance that they won't lose money on Mac support. +stantastic
Three years and at least five Garmin tech support calls later, hearing every single time that Garmin will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER support the Mac community, I finally read this. I'm ecstatic!! I'll believe it when I see it -- a press release does not a Mapsource OS X product make. But, hey, they said it. They wrote it. It'll be a great day for Mac/Garmin owners when it finally happens. I'll tip my hat to Garmin for finally seeing the light. Thanks, Garmin. Quote Link to comment
shabbasuraj
Finally.. No more reason to have a WINCRAP machine at my house. Everyone knew it was inevitable. Garmin kept saying NEVER....NEVER... NEVER... They finally smartened up, and listened. O well I guess 'never' was actually Jan.10. Mac users win... AGAIN. YAY TEAM. Quote Link to comment
