+Go JayBee
Worth Repeating ............... I think we have really got something to be proud of here....it has spurred some thinking about the whole GeoCoin Industry that has evolved recently. Now folks are starting to wonder why are "we paying" for others to build "their" collections. This Group was formed in order to try and counteract this trend of only making coins to be put into binders or putting money into the bank accounts of folks hoping to cash in on this latest craze, and get back to the roots of GeoCoins. You know, this was all started by Moun10Bike, who actually still "places" his M10B Coins into caches...hoping that someone would actually get off their a** and find it after an exhilerating hike among the great NorthWest Natural Areas. What a concept. I'm sure that he never planned for it to turn out this way. Let's all try to make him feel proud of us. I hope that we, as a group, don't fall prey to the greed that is all around us. Let's get those coins out into the wild, and not be so concerned about what we are going to add to our collections. I see quite a few "pending" and "emailed" within our DataBase. Lets get those slots filled in. And those only on the "receiving end" so far...I hope you have some serious plans of "sending" some coins out. My name is "Go JayBee" and I am a GeoCoin Addict...I can stop anytime...Oh, wait, that's another thread. Thanks for listening to my rant, JayBee Quote Link to comment

+Eric K
No big deal here but just a question. I noticed a lot of people are putting their three coins in a local cache and taking it right back out before sending it. Why not just activate, post a note, and then send it to the person who is to place it in a cache? I think that way the milage would be more accurate on how far these coins travel. Quote Link to comment
+G Force
I just activated mine 3 coins placed them in a cache nearest my home which is my cache before sending them to Belgium from the UK to get the mileage from the start. No big deal unless I'm missing something. They were activated in the UK not Begium although that is where they first saw a cache. Edited February 3, 2006 by G Force Quote Link to comment
+FlyinV
We like to see the mileage accumulate from our house (the cache we placed them in is ours and only about .5mi from us). Quote Link to comment
+AtlantaGal
We like to see the mileage accumulate from our house (the cache we placed them in is ours and only about .5mi from us). I do the same thing with all my TBs. My closest cache is about 1/2 mile from the house. Since the TB or coin starts from here, it makes sense Quote Link to comment
+Windrose
I do this to all the TBs and coins I own. I wondered if I should do it for my Grand Experiment coins and thought since I'm activating the coins and they belong to me, the "traveling" is really starting from my home in MI. Even though I'm sending them to OR to travel. Windrose Quote Link to comment

I emailed them and it looks like he's on his way back stateside in the next few days. Any in the military in IRAQ who would be willing to toss a couple coins in caches, please let me know - I'd really like to get these going (Also if you let me know if there's a particular state you're from/might be interested in, I'll do my best to try and get you one of these if I have it..). Also, I'm looking for someone in Russia and/or China if you're interested, I'd like to launch some new coins I got this week to those countries too. Thanks! ~Rose Quote Link to comment

+phoenix-rose
Hi guys, Looking to maybe do a trade - I have a request from Iraq that is for either Kansas, Florida or Ohio geocoin. Anyone want to trade with me so I can activate one of these (or you can and we'll work out a way to get it to the troops) and get it out to the guys who are from that area but stationed in Iraq? I have: North Carolina 2006 DelaWhere 2006 Georgia 2006 (stone mountain) Wisconsin 2006 Maine Great Britian Any takers/Traders? I know I can count on y'all to help keep us going and to help keep our troops supported! Thanks! ~Rose Quote Link to comment
Not So Lost Puppies
Looks like we are getting close to 50 participants. 45 entries in the database. If you participated but haven't yet added your info to the database, please do so. (see the first posting of this thread for a link) This is very easy for anyone that has made any coins to participate in. And as others have stated, there are some inexpensive coins out there that you can purchase to get in on the experiment. If there is a special coin made specifically for the experiment it may be limited to the earlier players. It will definately be a very collectible coin! (much like the coin quest coins are) Quote Link to comment

+rowanf
*happy dance* My seeder coins TBT62Y, TBMYBC and TBNK3Q have made it to sTeamTrean for placement in France, Germany, Switzerland or wherever they're currently caching. That is just sooo cool. I wish there was a way to follow the spawner coins too but they weren't activated, of course. Would it be a good custom to institute that folks who receive spawner coins let folks know when they are activated so their travels (if any) can also be watched? Mine went to three different states and I'd love to know where they go. :-) If anyone has spawners or seeders they want to send to California I'd happily receive them for placement in local caches.
