Tb Or Geocoin?

A travel bug is an tag you can attach to an item, say a small stuffed animal, a toy, or some personal item. These usually have 'goals'. My TB wants to see mountains, for example. All TBs have the same icon. My travelbug page. Check pictures for tag inside plastic.

A geocoin is a special coin with a tracking number. These usually have a consective series of numbers, not just one-off, like TBs. Also, they are the tracking item itself - it isn't attached to anything.

A coin could have 1000 pieces, each with its own number. The cacher or group who printed them then can give them away for others to keep, or activate them and send them on their way, similar to a TB. Each geocoin type has its own icon.

Activated geocoins should NEVER be kept, but moved along like any travel bug.

Thanks for the info. Where would I get a geocoin though? (besides from a cache)

Three ways to get a geocoin:

1) You know someone who has made them, and is willing to part with one

2) You find one in a cache. IF IT IS ACTIVATED, YOU SHOULD NOT KEEP IT

3) Make your own!

For specific help with geocoins, check this forum:

Geocoin Discussions. The forum search engine is down right now, but peruse some of the threads in there. There is at least one (pinned at the top I think) of geocoin makers.

Hope this helps - I am not big on geocoin colelcting myself, so I can't really help you further.

Happy caching! :D

The fun for me is grabbing one at an event or finding one in a cache so this is something im not interested in ,,,, but some can actually be bought off ebay!
