+Snoogans Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 What makes folks want to cache in a kilt? I've seen some pretty cool ones lately and I just might break down and get one for myself... (at least in time for Saxman's next campout.) Show your pics of yourself and/or others geocaching in kilts. Quote

4wheelin_fool Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 I just attended a wedding on news year's eve in which the groom and all the men in the wedding party were wearing kilts. The groom is not a geocacher, but as my wedding gift was a Garmin E-trex legend, we shall see... Quote
+dandylaurel Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Thank you for posting the pics, love those kilts! Quote
+1stimestar Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Darn broken search feature! If I ever decide I want a boyfriend, I'd be making him some kilts! Quote

Hugh Jazz Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Alas, they do not make a kilt large enough to cover my "Hugh Jazz." If I did wear a kilt around these h'year parts, I'd be sure to strap on a "Hugh Jazz" shootin' iron. The locals don't take kindly to dudes wearin' 'skirts' around here. Quote

The locals don't take kindly to dudes wearin' 'skirts' around here. People are pretty weirded out by it here in CT too, especially when I wore mine while caching in ritzy Greenwich. That's the best part about it! Our wedding, which was a terrain 5 geocaching event. Caching in Greenwich. At our monthly Wings & Beer event. Quote
+Team GPSaxophone Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 I'm hoping to add a Utilikilt to the wardrobe this year, since I only have the one (pictured above) now. Quote
+Team GPSaxophone Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Oh, and Snoogans, leave the bowling ball at home if you attend this year's campout Quote

Are you just trying to get in good with the ladies by getting unsuspecting geocaching males to post their pics here, or,,, is there a side to you the rest of us don't know about??? p.s. sorry girls, i certainly don't have the legs for this. +Deliveryguy428 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 A- Thanks to Snoogans for wanting to know about kilts and not naked cachers B- That would be a VERY interesting greeting to GW4...Snoogans in a kilt...then of course Cujo needs one also. Quote

+clearpath Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Also, do wear underpants with a kilt? Or is it 'el natural'. Quote
+Ambrosia Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 At the WSGA 2005 Summer Campout: RWW had just ordered his camo kilt, so wasn't able to wear it yet. Quote
+Team GPSaxophone Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Don't you have to be Scottish to wear a kilt ? Or drunk ... No, that's a common misconception. Drunk Irishmen also wear kilts My ancestry is both Irish and Scottish (and quite a few others) but it isn't a requirement to wear an unbifurcated garment. Quote

+Lizooki Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 (edited) What makes folks want to cache in a kilt? Female tendencies? being toooo in touch w/ thier feminine side? No...j/k ... I have thought of getting one myself. I regularly attend/volunteer at the Triad Highland Games in Greensboro, NC. My wife has found her/our clan and if I wanted I could have a clan-correct kilt. One of the Ulility-Kilts would be cool too.But a 4 ft. tall 400 lbs. man in a kilt ain't a pretty thought....or site! Matt I was looking at my post and my avatar...... I would imagine it would be highly entertaining to watch me get in and out of a much lifted Samurai while trying to remain modest. Edited January 3, 2006 by Lizooki Quote
+Team Red Oak Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 I belong to a group that recreates the Middle Ages so seeing guys in kilts is no big deal. What is a big deal though is when guys decide to go 'comando' then don't know how to sit down properly. Please if you wear the kilt, learn to sit because people don't want to see your bits and pieces or your undies. Thank-you Quote
+Fergus Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 I own a few kilts. I have though about wearing my utilikilt geocaching, but have not yet. If you wear a utilikilt you should wear shorts that are the same color under it. Because the utilikilt is so light I find that it is very easy for the wind to blow my utilikilt up. I do not have that problem with any of my other kilts. Quote

Looking at it with a different perspective; It's all a part of recognizing your heritage and the culture that comes with it and there's nothing wrong with that. Quote

+maggieszoo Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 As much as I think men in kilts look cool, I just can't see the rednecks in southern Ohio tolerating them (no offense to anyone intended). Hey, Kilted Cacher, do you get shot at much down there in KY? Quote
+Ambrosia Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 You see people every once in a while in Seattle wearing kilts, just walking down the street. Quote
+bobbarley Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Canadian Kilts don't exist. Brrr! Except for Nova Scotia. Oh there is a few people around Canada that drag out their kilts once and a while. Nova Scotia more often than the rest. I even saw a guy in Walmart the other day but I am pretty sure his was a skirt. It was a burgundy number with ruffles accented with fur trimmed combat boots and he was near the case holding the GPSs but I am sure that doesnt count. I am ukranian and honestly I wouldn't be caught dead caching in traditional garb. Quote
IronMaiden Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 I know my husband would never be caught dead or alive in a kilt. Even though he has the legs for it..........If he shaves them. Besides I worked with a guy who wore a kilt to work one day. Then he had to climb a ladder, while I held it for him. Don't ask. Quote
BRTango Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 I haven't been caching in a kilt, but I'd certainly consider it. I did get married in a kilt and where mine to many special events. Quote
