+TEAM RETRIEVER
Is there anyone here that does any GEOCACHING while backpacking in INDIANA? If so where? I'm thinking a one or two night trip in the Hoosier National, but wasn't sure if there are any caches. Input? Quote Link to comment
Rupert2
I used to do a lot of backpacking on the Knobstone Trail. Unfortunately I have not looked at the cache situation there. Given it is in southern Indiana I would anticipate good things. Quote Link to comment
+Deermark
The Knobstone Trail is loaded from end to end. The Adventure Trail in Harrison-Crawford Forestry West of Corydon is loaded. I have done a lot of backpacking on both trails before Geocaching. The Knobstone would be a tough 3-day hike doing the entire 50+ miles. The Adventure Trail is more like 20 miles. Both trails are very hilly in places. Morgan-Monroe would also be a good place to backpack but for number of caches I would go with the first 2. The Adventure Trail has 3 sided shelter spread throughout the trail. There are many more caches off the trail also. You could probably do 3-4 days caching there. Have fun. +Prairiepartners
There are tons of great caches in Hoosier National Forest, feel free to add a few more while your out there hiking/caching!! Quote Link to comment
+Bean Blossom Gang
All the above are great cache areas...HNF is loaded, also check out the north side of Lake Monroe, Pate Hollow Trails...I think close to twenty caches out there and about 10 miles of trails. You could always join is January 14th at Morgan Monroe for the Trail Mix, we will be cache/hiking the Rock Shelter Trail. Quote Link to comment
+JeepinJeff
Here are two great ones in that area. Both take a decent hike to get to... Sycamore Loop Trail Cache Ultimate Camp Cache Quote Link to comment
Rupert2
There is also a fantastic trail that run around Brookville Res, I believe about 20 miles total but only with a couple of caches. That would be a great location for someone to plant some new caches in so inclined. Here is Indy Diver's Indy Diver's Cache Quote Link to comment
