Ayalacrew
I have a question about multiple stage caches where the cache owner says there are "redirects". Are these physical objects? Codes to decipher? I thought I found one today that was a piece of equipment on a playground, but then I didn't find the cache, so I must have misinterpreted what a redirect is. There are two more caches that list redirects on them, and now I'm reluctant to go try them! Please, help! Thanks! Quote Link to comment
+ZingerHead
"Redirects" is a new term to me, but most multi-caches "redirect" you from some point you know to a new point which can be a cache, or another pointer to the next stage of the cache. The number of stages is up to the hider. The redirection can be a micro cache with coordinates, instructions indicating you should pace off x feet 180 degrees from your present location, to numbers you must use to calculate coordinates using some formula that you're given. If you found coordinates, or clues that you can resolve to coordinates, then they should have taken you to either another set of coords, or the final cache. I'd drop a line to the cache hider asking for clarification if the cache page wasn't clear. I'm sure they'd be happy to help. Quote Link to comment
Ayalacrew
Thanks much. I've been a little worried about contacting cache owners for hints, etc., wanting to "make it on my own" and not appear too clueless, but maybe a little guidance would be in order.... I appreciate your advice! Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
It is likely that somewhere on that playground equipment is hidden a very small container. In that container is a small scrap of paper with coordinates to the next spot. The info on the paper "re-directs" you to the next spot. That action has become a noun for the paper or container undertaking it. Quote Link to comment
