Vassfamily
Hello all: I am recently working for a city in Oklahoma in their parks and recreation department. I absolutely love geocaching but don't have time to do it as much as I would like. Therefore, since I have the ability to come up with new programs within the parks and recreation department, I thought geocaching would be a wonderful leisure activity for the citizens in my city. I am trying to gleen different ideas so, what better rescource than you folks who are actively involved. I have already looked at the posts for Cloo and the Geowoodstock event. Those are great ideas! My city has around 48 city maintained parks and has around a 100,000 population. We also are a college community. If you have any ideas, (other than moving caches) no matter how crazy. Please post and hopefully they may come into fruition. Thanks Edited December 28, 2005 by Vassfamily Quote Link to comment

+dmnrec
As a Recreation Specialist, I've been taking kids from our rec centers caching for 2 years now. We go to actual caches when we have the transportation. When we don't have the transportation, I've set up micros around the park they are in...then give out candy or other items as prizes. We've also have had cache races on the park grounds...which is really fun to watch as kids learn to read the coords on their own. Right now, I'm working on a cache event that I hope to do this summer to bring kids at the rec centers together with cachers..."Take a Kid Caching Day". Sort of like Take a Kid Fishing Day.
