CacheMonkeez
I always thought it was pretty clever that the site resized large file size images, but left them alone if the uploader did the compression themselves. I like uploading images at about 800x600 and I usually use ~100k as my target size when compressing (I use irfanview for resizing and compressing as well). I hope it doesn't change. I like uploading images to cache pages when I have pictures that I think other cachers would find interesting or useful, and I think allowing the users to compress the images themselves to get to the proper file size without mandating a tiny image is a smart way to handle it. Same here. I resize until the file size gets just under 125K. Nighttime photos can be compressed a lot which results in very large dimensions that still fit under 125K.
