+Seth! Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 This is my latest installment in a nearly-annual holiday cartoon for our sport. (I missed last year because I was shooting the DVD.) If you want to see the ones for 2001, 2002, and 2003, look here. Happy holidays, everyone. Cheers, Seth! Quote

gridlox Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Those of us who grew up in the northeast got it. Well don't give it to me!! I'll confess, that was the first time I'd heard that expression myself, also. But, I'm a smart Redneck Southern Boy , so I kinda figured that's what it meant. That reminded me of this funny story... In a small Southern town there was a nativity scene that indicated great skill and talent in its creation. One small feature bothered me though. The three wise men were wearing firemen's helmets. Totally unable to come up with a reason or explanation, I left. At a "Quik Stop" on the edge of town, I asked the lady behind the counter about the helmets. She exploded into a rage, yelling at me, "You darn Yankees never do read the Bible!" I assured her that I did, but simply couldn't recall anything about firemen in the Bible. She jerked her Bible from behind the counter and ruffled through some pages, and finally jabbed her finger at a particular passage. Sticking it in my face she said, "See, it says right here, 'The three wise men came from afar.'" D-man Quote
+Renegade Knight Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 For those of us who grew up in the southwest can I assume that a crèche is similar to a Nativity scene?? The first thing I thought of was that real men wouldn't eat creche. Quote
MisterBig Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 I would have thought that the word creche would have been part of the vernacular of more people but perhaps that was presumptuous on my part. This is a good time of year to add that word to your repertoire. It's not really an anomalous term for members of the literati or even the more pedestrian. Quote
