luvlasvegas
Hi Folks, Any recommendations for a pocket pc gps geocaching software? I am currently using map software not indended for geocaching so not having the ability to enter waypoints and importing them is not easy. The only thing I do now is look at the map in mapquest that is posted for the cache then go to the area until my lat and long are close but this really doesn't work well. Any suggestions would be great. Quote Link to comment

+NWMOhunter
Is there a version for PocketPC 2002? Quote Link to comment
luvlasvegas
Hi Ya I took a look at that before I posted. GPXSonar doesn't include a topographical map correct? It's just a log of all the waypoints...same information I can get by logging into Geocaching site correct? Doesn't look like it will export with the current software I use. Quote Link to comment
+Greymane
Memory-Map Discoverer will give you wonderful software (for both the PC and PPC) and a full set of maps for a given state. I see they have it on sale for the holidays for less than $75. The state set gives you all three scales of USGS topos (1:24k, 1:100k and 1:250k), plus elevation data and a gazeteer of place names. You can also import your LOC and GPX files directly into the program. Quote Link to comment
+geoduck.5
BeeLine works on PPC 2002. It includes GC logs and is the best geocaching software I have used. Quote Link to comment
luvlasvegas
Hi Thx! I noticed that BeeLine is also good for Pocket PC 2003. I send the support an email to see if it's good for Canada also. Since I'm new to geocaching, can you tell me if maps for geocaching DO NOT include street names correct? Do most people geocache using topo maps only or street names also? I was looking at memory map and will take another look at it. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
I use GPXsonar and MS Streets and Trips. The S&T shows streets. the GPXsonar shows the caches. For topo I've tried various things and Backcountry Navigator works, but once it got out of Beta and my PDA crashed and was replaced I've never gotten around to buying to to run it again. luvlasvegas
Hi Ya gpsxsonar and MFST work fine together. I guess it personal preference. Do topo maps usually work world wide or usually just for a certain country/area? Geocaching appears to be a lot harder without the street names Quote Link to comment
+PocketSierra
For Topo maps and Aerial photos in the US, BackCountry Navigator may be worth trying. I haven't used street map software myself. Quote Link to comment
luvlasvegas
I just saw a demo from a friend of Microsoft street and trips 2006 for pocket pc. This program is terrible! Glad I saw it before I bought it Edited December 20, 2005 by luvlasvegas Quote Link to comment

ElevenBravo
Ive tested several, and settled on GPSDash2. I create my topos and arial photos on usaphotomaps (google it), calibrate it in there Map Manager, transfer them to SD card, and off I go. Works *wonderfully*. HTH, 11B Quote Link to comment
FasterDaddy
11Bravo, Help me out here. I'm less than 24 hours with my PPC...I can download a map from USAphoto to the PPC, but obviously that's not going to get me realtime tracking which is my goal. Do I need a fancy software package to do this, or have you found a way using USAphoto maps & GPS2Dash? Lastly, how do I claibrate USAPhoto maps? Thanks Edited July 7, 2006 by FasterDaddy Quote Link to comment
