+Airmapper
I seen a new Garmin Legend C for $150 at my local Wal-mart. Above it was a gray-scale Legend for $169. Go Figure. Thoughts? Is this a good deal? I don't need another GPS (I had a hard time coming up with that conclusion ) but how good would this unit be? Link to comment
+JohnnyVegas
It could be they made a mistake when they priced it. You should have bought then sold it on e-bay for a profit Link to comment

+Team Cotati
It is a good unit. $250.00 on Amazon, $209.00 at TigerGPS. If you want it now would be a really good time to run back to the wal-mart and grab it. I have often wondered why people don't spend the 30 seconds that it takes to price compare stuff these days before seeking the very same info from others? Strange. Strange. Well, I'll tell you why I did. I have a 21,600bps connection. Browsing E-bay, Garmin, Amazon, and other websites with all those flashy ads, moving banners, and photos, can turn a 30 second task into a 30min to an hour task. I figured I'd ask people who have actually bought and used the unit, and instead of watching the progress bar creep along, I could do other things. As for the unit, now I'm really in a mess, I already have 2 GPS's, but my dad has a friend wanting one, and a Legend might be just what he wants. Don't know what I'll do, if it's there next time .......might just have to get it. It's in a small Wal-mart that is about to become a supercenter. The GPS is also the only Legend C in stock. Thanks everybody, I seen $150 and thought it was worth more, but didn't know. Edited December 17, 2005 by Airmapper Link to comment

I would never have imagined how, statistically speaking, that so many low bandwidth users could have become concentrated at the same site. Interesting. ;-) 'Small' Wal-Mart? Where? +Airmapper
If it still there (and at that price a big IF) It may just find itself a home, either with me or whoever I sell it too. Anyone use a Legend C? I like the features, but the 24MB memory, how is that? I'm used to 512MB, which with my mapping software is quite roomy. How much area (no large cities) would it hold on USA Road mapping software? (Auto routing) and maybe with the TOPO mapping. (I know you must load them seperate, so one or the other, not both.) More is always better when it comes to memory, but the 24 MB can be workable if you don't live in an area like LA and are willing to reload maps quite frequently. As an example, we're taking a car trip soon from the SF area in northern California down to Bakersfield and then on to Las Vegas (about 550 miles). Using CitySelect-NA v6 I just loaded that whole route into the 19 MB of my GPS V and also included some areas around LV (Hoover dam and other sections of Lake Mead, etc.) for possible side trips. Topo maps are even less of an issue since I normally only need one or two MBs worth even for extended hiking trips. BTW, one can easily load a combination of CitySelect and Topo maps at one time but of course all the maps need to fit in the 24 MB. Link to comment
+Airmapper
Well I went back cash in hand to get it, but at that price it was already gone. But after the research I think the Legend may be an excellent next GPS, so my AirMap won't get beat up out caching.
