Goldfinch593 Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 I got my December 2005 Geocoin Club coin in the mail today! I love the ammo can under the snow covered fir tree! Iam going to let all my favorite caching buddies log this coin in lieu of a Christmas card! Quote
Team CoyChev Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 I thought the picture was a little warped when I saw that artwork so I edited it to make it true Round. I recieved my coin today as well, and was shocked to see the coin is acctually oval shaped. It really looks cool! my favorite side is the tree's and the ammo can. Quote
Go JayBee Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Is that the "official name" for this coin...."Old Man Winter"? I have been looking on the coinclub site, but can't find anything related to the name. Any info would be appreciated... Happy Holidays Quote
Cornerstone4 Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 It really looks cool! my favorite side is the tree's and the ammo can. I like that side best too. The other side makes me feel cold just looking at it! Quote

Happy Holidays I don't think we came up with an 'official' name but Old Man Winter or just the Winter coin is how we refer to it. This was just a 'fun' coin, we wanted to represent winter caching but not necessarily stick to a holiday theme and came up with Old Man Winter. I'm happy to hear that people like it. Quote
Mystery Ink Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 You did a great job on it Rusty & Libby. Quote
SirGerald Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 When I added it to my collection, "Old Man Winter" was the obvious name. So, by consensus, it is now officially named. OK? --SirGerald Quote
Geo Dee Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 I didn't think of Old Man Winter and so chose to name mine Cool Yule. Whatever its name, it's a fine coin. And I appreciate the idea of allowing logging of it instead of a greeting card. Quote
Goldfinch593 Posted December 17, 2005 Author Posted December 17, 2005 I didn't know the coin had a name either, I just called it Old Man Winter when I started this thread... lol! But that's what I'm calling it, too, on my coin page. I intended to keep my coin club subscription active for only three months, so I could get the Selective Availability coin (which is a very cool coin, by the way!) and the Benchmark coin. I love both of them! I actually forgot to cancel my subscription but now that I have received Old Man Winter, I'm glad I didn't! Thanks for coming up with such unique designs! Quote
lathama Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 all of the coins i have had (ive had them all except my xmas one). i just call them by the month and year printed on them. Its an easy way to record them Quote
Goldfinch593 Posted December 17, 2005 Author Posted December 17, 2005 (edited) I really had fun with this one! I will bring it with me when I go to geocaching holiday parties and events, so I can share it with all my geocaching friends, in lieu of a Christmas card!
