Preserving History

Living in the Central Michigan area, there are many abandoned railways that have benchmarks that have been destroyed by present landowners. These marks are part of our historical past and deserve preserving. Furthermore, they take little room and tell the story of that area's history. I recently found a benchmark thought to be destroyed finding it intact with the permission and presence of the landowner. Having coffee with the landowner, he was highly impressed with the history and promises to keep this area intact.
