West468 Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 I observed a strange website problem today: I logged a new cache (GCRJJE) as a find and got a point for it as usual. It does not show up on my list of nearest caches from home coordinates with finds filteres out. So far, so good. However, when I look at the list of nearest caches with finds included, this particular cache does not have the usual markings for a find in this list, namely the grey background and the red tick. A fellow cacher observed the same both with this and another cache. What is wrong here? Hope it's gonna be fixed soon. Thanks! Regards, West468
+Jhwk Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Think it takes a while for all the elements to synch up - give it a day...
+DavidMac Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 I noticed this on a few caches I logged recently. I refreshed the page and the problem went away- the red checkmarks and grey background showed up. I guess it takes a minute or so at times.
West468 Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 Ah, at last. Everything normal. Thanks for the replies. Sorry for my impatience. West468
+Lil Devil Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Yeah the search is done off of a mirrored database. The mirror is supposed to update within a minute or so, but sometimes it takes longer when the site is really, really busy. Add to this the memory caching done on the web server computers and sometimes things may appear to be out of sync for several minutes. Just be patient. Log a few other finds or even go out and find some more caches. When you come back, all should be right in the world

However, now we have a situation where no checkmarks are shown at all, not even for caches found many years ago, which used to have their red check marks in the past. Atleast, that's what is happening for me, on several different computers.
+Jeremy Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Actually, the problem of new finds not having a red checkmark is an old and recurring one, and it usually settles within a week. You are confused. The OP is about the nearest cache page, not the map page.
