Agency Contributor Code

Just a quick question about the contributor codes used when submitting mark recovery data to NGS.

 

While I'm normally quite happy to submit data with the GEOCAC group code, I noticed when perusing the contributor list that the Boy Scouts of America has it's own code (BSA). I don't know if anyone knows anything about this code, or when it may be appropriate to use it, but as an Assistant Scoutmaster for a local troop I thought it may be possible to submit reports under this heading if we took our boys out Benchmark hunting.

 

What do you think? Anyone know more about this code than me?

You can actually submit using any code. The NGS submission is self-policing, so use the code you feel most comfortable using.

That's cool... I'll have to remember that next time I report a recovery since I'm an Eagle scout.

 

In fact, since BSA can report, BM hunting might make a good activity for teaching scouts how to use a GPS and compass...

As for teaching boyscouts how to use GPS, I think that sounds like a great idea. If you ever get something going, or want to discuss the idea, drop me a line. We have an eagle scout here at NGS that might be able to give you some ideas.
