AndrewRJ Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 well written, I liked the family angle, could have used a mention of CITO though. Otherwise well done! Quote
evergreenhiker! Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Cool article! IMW and I have found several of their caches. Quote
Anonymous' Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Yeah i saw that. Our newspaper was really wet so it was hard to read most of it. Quote
DoodleCat & MisterKrrk Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 I wouldn't call the original stash site the "backcountry" of Oregon. I think its only about 10 miles from a freeway. Heck, we once picked up someone from the Portland airport, whisked them out to the cache and back up to the airport in not much more than an hour. Maybe an hour and a half cuz he also stopped to grab the unoriginal stash and it was a dark night. Quote

Alpine Lake Wilderness is less than a mile from I-90 in place or two. Quote
Right Wing Wacko Posted December 2, 2005 Author Posted December 2, 2005 Besides... (letting my bias show)... to the Main Stream Media.. anything outside of Seattle is "Back Country"! Quote
Rey del Roble Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Most of the material Janna (Lajoie 5) and I provided was not used and some of the quotes were off, but we were happy no major mistakes were made. The "hiding in the woods" part came out of nowhere. I'll admit to hiding once and accidentally scaring kids out of a park to get a cache, but not to telling it to the reporter. Hope this article helps the sport. It's amazing to me, how many people have told me they read the article. Quote
Ambrosia Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 That's cool. It's the same with our article that just came out...a couple discrepancies, but overall, nice. We went to church today, and our head elder had brought our article to church with him to show anybody who may not have seen it. One lady said that she cut it out and is saving it. I got a lot of comments....it was sweet. I'm not sure how they felt about the sport of geocaching, however, they were just excited to see our pictures. To be fair, a lot of them have gone geocaching with us as a church, and our church even has their own account. So it's not a new thing to them. Quote

Lizzy Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Oh my gosh!! I must have some sort of ESP...... I sent an email to the Herald the same day the article came out about geocaching. My email was a request that the Herald do a story on Geocaching and gave them a couple of names to contact for interviews, etc. I don't get the middle of the week paper, so was unaware that they were publishing a story the same day I sent the request. I didn't get a response back from the Herald and am just finding out today from this forum that the story was published on Nov 29th. Just gotta be ESP Quote
shunra Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 ... our church even has their own account. You're kidding me! Had any mass conversions recently? :-) Quote
