+Munkeh Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 one minute its there having elections, next its gone walk about on holiday, maybe its just gone to relieve its stress Quote
Lactodorum Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 My ISP (Eclipse) has been having MAJOR network problems since yesterday afternoon. I see GCCOINS is down as well so perhaps GAGB is also suffering. Quote
+Bill D (wwh) Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 There does seem to be a problem with the GAGB site itself. I'm getting "webmaster contact support", and Dave of The Wombles was getting that this afternoon. The webmaster has been informed. Of course, it might just have been the stress. Quote
+mongoose39uk Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 My ISP (Eclipse) has been having MAJOR network problems since yesterday afternoon. I see GCCOINS is down as well so perhaps GAGB is also suffering. That may be due to the site owner being on the pop! Quote
+Bill D (wwh) Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Apparently there has been an exploit of a web form on the GAGB site, allowing unauthorised use of the mail server. In other words, someone's been trying to use the site to send junk mail. I understand that everything should be up and working again sometime tomorrow. Quote
+The Wombles Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 (edited) We've been in contact with lunarpages who host the GAGB website. Apparently one part of the site was the target of an attack and they decided to take the whole site off the air. We're working on it but it may not be a quick fix. +The Hokesters Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 So its you lot sending me all this spam is it? I'll get me coat... Quote
+Moote Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Pram? Dummy? Now, now. I think that is unfair. Yes there were several issues raised in the recent past but that is behind all the members of the committee. There is a genuine technical fault. Milton (aka Moote) Quote
+Teasel Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Yep, nothing sinister, just pure incompetence! The web form I wrote for sending emails to the committee was exploited by spammers who used it to notify thousands of AOLers about several "exciting investment opportunities" they might be interested in. I'd muse about why they seem to be targeting AOL users, but I'm already on pretty thin ice myself right now! I've deleted the offending script and asked Lunarpages to let us have our website back, but from past experience, they could drag their heels somewhat... Sorry for the inconvenience! Ian Quote
+Bill D (wwh) Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Thanks for the update, Ian. Hopefully Lunarpages will get their act in gear soon... Quote
