Mobile Phone Coverage In The Lake District

We are wondering if any of the Cumbrian cachers out there can help us with this: are there any mobile phone networks which offer good, reliable signal coverage in the Lake District? We currently use T-mobile which is pretty non-existent in Ambleside, and we're trying to set up mobile internet access to log our cache finds while we're on holiday.

 

Advice on which networks are good/bad appreciated!

I had no problems with O2 whilst there in the summer, and I used my mobile whilst in Ambleside.

O2 has pritty good coverage but it depends which side of Ambleside cause Grassmere side the coverage is not so good. There are new sinal masts going up all the time and coverage is getting better all the time

Just get a satellite phone contract But in all honesty Voda, and Orange work well.

Orange isnt as good round these parts ......... on there website it says we have coverage but ask anyone round here about Orange and no one really uses them

Never had any trouble on Vodafone.

I'm on O2 which often works, my wife is on Orange which usually doesn't. The public library in Ambleside does booked slots or walk in if they're quiet - for something like 50p AFAIR which would be a good fall back

we are always up in the lakes visiting Phill's sister - from the Northern Invaders...

 

We both have orange Phones, which seemed to work perfectly ok in Ambleside while we were there a few weeks ago!

My Orange worked perfectly well there as well.
