So, who is starting to think about carpooling yet? I will probably come down the 67 and then out the 8 so I could meet people anywhere in there....

OK, I'd like to hit SCC #3, #4 and #16 then hit Bear Valley then Proctor Valley Monster at dark. I can split off for Bear Valley so you guys can complete the SCC caches... I'd be coming down the 15 to the 8. I could zig over to 67 and come down that way too...

Drats - too bad this is Thanksgiving day instead of one of the three following days! We have to be in Carlsbad by 1. <_<

I can't go on Turkey Day either! I prefer to go on 11/25 or 11/26!

BTW how did you change the icons? I made a map of all my finds for my profile page and wanted to change the icons and hide the text, but couldn't see the option to do that in Google Earth....

I'd be happy to share my Google Earth experience under the SD Banter topic so as to not drive all the SCCC info off this page before Thursday! But the bad news is that I had to write a program to do that. If you know any programming languages that can manipulate a text file, you can do it too.

You're right, the Banter site is a better place to cover stuff like that! <_<

One more thing you need to add to your supplies is a good pair of gloves. :huh:

Gaiters would be a good idea for SCC #16.

I guess that rules out wearing shorts....or I'll skip that one if it's too narly. However, I've carved up my legs plenty of times bushwhacking!

The cache requiring the longest hike (about 1.5 miles RT) on the Bear Valley Loop is Dream State.

Mtn bike or motorcycle will make it.

But first, you gotta solve a tough puzzle. I'm sure QDMan won't mind if I offer some assistance; but, I gotta solve it again - hey Flagman...

I made the loop with no problems on my 2WD stock height Nissan p'up. The trails are smoother than the Palomar Devide and I took my Corolla up there.

I was supposed to be out of town but that fell through at the last minute so I am going to do geocaching and hopefully some 4 wheel driving while I geo cache so any of you wanting a group on Fri or Sat just post the day and time and I will be there with my trusty Jeep and GPS.

Got back from Joshua Tree and found a new thread for San Diego.
Thanksgiving morning meet at Sandy Creek Cowboy Cache #3 ......please bring a ladder.........course we only need one but one is hard to get these days

OOPS.....meet at 7am.......that will give us time to get some and get out of there for turkey later on.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME, YOUNG AND OLD.

Just putting this out again so it's on the current page. I believe Chuy is bringing a 12' ladder and hopefully is brave enough to use it :huh:

We're hoping to make it - but it's a long drive for us and 7am... But we're planning on trying.

Here is a map of the area with some of the caches:

I think SCC #3, then La Fantasma, then #9, then SCC #6, then Bob's Cache, then SCC #8, then SCC #4 would be one way to proceed.

SCC #1 is a hike. It is beautiful, but the others are closer to the road.

Another option would be to do the ones right close to SCC #3 then drive all the way to SCC #12 and do caches on the way back out to the Interstate on the way back home to turkey dinner . . .

Okay, I'll go first.

How about tackling "Lawson 4" Tuesday, November 29 or Wednesday, November 30 . . . weather permitting.

Just a reminder, in case this thread has been moving too quickly

I'm adding a map of the caches in the area of Lawson #4.

There are four easy ones near there as well as the four on the mountain.

The hike is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, November 29 . . . and, no, we will not be meeting at 7 a.m. More like 9 a.m.

My two cents...

I would save #3 for last just in case someone falls off the ladder. That way you get to bag all the caches before that happens....

#1 is a pretty good hike and is not funny like the others. It is basically a normal cache. So if I were you I'd save that one for the end and do it if you had time...

The Dillon Dad has been given the oakey dokey from the Dillon Boss to run Bear Creek on Saturday. I plan on trying to start my run at 7am. if i finish that...on to the Sandy Creek caches i haven't done. have to be home by 3pm for birthday party setup. Any takers? Will be driving the 4x4 with room for 5.

Hehe, I wasn't worried about that - we were going to make this a family outing and a 7am to 7pm caching day would probably do them in for a year or two! <_<

After looking at the map it's faster for me to take 67 down...

It's actually 15 miles farther going by 15 and 67 isn't that bad...

But you're right it's probably the same timewise....

ok, I could probably use a ride unless Rogue comes with me. It looks like my brakes are slowly failing on my car.... just found out it was down to 1/4 fluid.... Going to have to do work on it this weekend.

Hey cachers,

I'm hoping that I can get out over this holiday break to do some group caching...I'll keep you posted on what dates and times I can meet up.

The reason being is that I should have the San Diego Geo*oin's (don't want to say it....lurkers ) in hand by Wednesday !!

What better time to start your Xmas shopping then right after Turkey Day.
