Looking For A Cache In/near A Cave Or Tunnel Nc/sc

I am looking for a cache in or near a cave or tunnel in either NC or SC that we haven't done. Anyone know of any caves around?

There is an interesting tunnel near this virtual cache. You will also find several picnic tables and a nice waterfall within walking distance. Check the photos on some of the logs.

Here's another virtual at a tunnel; this one's in the Smoky Mountains NP:

 

Welcome to Nowhere by Orthoguy and Adventurechick

 

It's part of a road along the south end of the park that was never completed. You have to walk all the way through to the other side to find the answer. There are also a number of very nice trails in the area if you're up for a hike.

Tunnel Vision is just a pedestrian/bike one, but it's a great hide and there are hundreds of caches of all types nearby too.

Tube Torcher is down right now, but from what I hear and read about it, it might meet your criteria and should be a lot of fun. It's been on our radar for a while now, but we need to get together with a few friends and make an expedition of it. Edited November 16, 2005 by jon & miki

The Devil's Cauldron is just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Waynesville. The caves aren't all that extensive but it was pretty cool!

OK, how much tunnel do you want? In my preparing a new one, I need to know how far in folks will go and how small is too small? In particular, I know you jamrasc, so do you want me to surprise you or you can tell me your preference.

As far as how far I'd have to go in, it would depend if "J" was with us, if we had the girls, a variety of factors. If I have all 3 girls by myself, we probably wouldn't go in the cave at all, too risky with my babies.

Have you done the virtual cache that's near where the SC Wanna Go was just held? That's a huge tunnel.

I haven't, but we found a small cave yesterday while out on a massive hike doing a cache.

there are several small caves. In one spot is a tunnel about 20 feet long and open on both ends. One end you have to drop down into, and the other is some 15 feet off the ground. In the middle is a crevice which seems to go nowhere, but at the end it turns left into a small room which seems like a dead end, but on the way out there is another crevice branching off which goes some 80 feet in a maze before exiting out a small hole less that 2 feet high almost above the initial entrance. Its just outside of Highands, NC. which is minutes from both SC and GA. If you like caves - GO!
