+geospyder
All four of our grandkids are into Geocaching with their parents. Was just thinking it would be neat for the two oldest (eleven and twelve) to have their own very basic GPSr for Christmas. But - which one? Two that come to mind are the basic Garmin eTrex and the Magellan eXplorist 100. Any recommendations? Quote Link to comment
+Wander Lost
Easy choice. PC uploads = Garmin Manual input = Magellan It's a no brainer in my book. Edited November 12, 2005 by Wander Lost Quote Link to comment

+Chuy!
Etrex Camo, or Geko 201 You can get the Camos for $103, and the 201 for $112. The 201 is almost half the weight of the Camo, but it uses AAA batteries which provides about 12 hrs of battery life; the Camo uses AA with about 22 hours of B-L. Quote Link to comment
SAWKS
Try a $99 Garmin eTrex (its yellow) Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
You can get the Camos for $103, But don't drop it in the leaves . Unless you want to have to plug in all the coords manually, stay away from the eXplorist 100 (and 200 and 300). No PC connection. The yellow eTrex is a good choice. Even better for kids is the Geko 201. It is very easy to use, probably the easiest of any unit available. If you really don't care about PC connectivity, in addition to the eXplorist, you might want to consider the Geko 101, which I've seen for as little as $49, or the Lowrance iFinder GO or Go2. Both are under $100 and I've seen the Go for as little as $69. Quote Link to comment
GeoVet
Consider the Garmin Rhino for kids. It's the same program as the etrex plus you can see where everyone is and know they're safe. Kids tend to wander . . . oh look at that cool butterfly, etc. Quote Link to comment
