+Saving Shiloh
I am takin g a poll on: would you trade a poker chip for one of your metal coins? Please post your reply below Edited November 8, 2005 by Saving Shiloh Quote Link to comment
+AtlantaGal
I wouldn't trade metal for plastic/clay, but I would trade one of my sharpie siggy items for one. Quote Link to comment
+Team Maddie UK
I wouldn't trade a coin for a poker chip. If I found one in a cache I would add to my collection unless it was a TB. Here in the Uk a lot of us had geotags made of acryllic and in different shapes and colours I might trade one of these for a poker chip as they are also a personal sig item. Any takers for trades? +Kilted Cacher
I wouldn't trade a coin for a poker chip. Some chips are very nicely done and I wouldn't mind having some of them, but metal coins are the prize and have been for a few thousand years. I also notice that a lot of people send their poker chips along with their coins as an added bonus. Quote Link to comment
Son of Cyclops
No, only collect coins and sigs we find. Quote Link to comment
+Damenace
No, metal 4 metal. Quote Link to comment
+Deliveryguy428
ha ha ha you funny....NO Quote Link to comment
+Shasties
I agree. A poker chip is a sig item, different than a coin. Metal for metal is what I've always done. Quote Link to comment
+welch
If I'd made a metal one for a sig item and was trading them, yes (but neither is true in my case). Quote Link to comment
+Lemon Fresh Dog
I have. Usually for a few Poker Chips and not often. I appreciate the fact that the poker chip represents an enthusiasm for the hobby as my personal coin does. My only problem is that the number of requests I would get to trade would outreach the number of personal coins I have. So.....on very, very rare occasions I would -- maybe if I met the person face-to-face. (then there would be that "connection") Quote Link to comment
+phoenix-rose
Nyet. I would trade metal for metal. Otherwise, a poker chip for my personal sig item (hand sculpted from polymer clay) is usually what I trade. I have two kinds of sig items. Ones that just get tossed in all caches I find, and ones which are really detailed that I mail out for trades and/or leave for first to finds and/or event trades and/or for really great caches. The others are smaller and very simple to make and are a little smaller than a poker chip. That being said... +Marky
I would, but my metal coins are just smashed pennies... --Marky Quote Link to comment
+The Gowen Family
I trade sig item for sig item, and like marky our sig item is a smashed penny. A few times we have traded for a regular geocoin, and I try and send them enough that it should be a fair trade. Quote Link to comment
ParentsofSAM
No. But now I do think I need to get a sig item so I could trade for smashed pennies, poker chips and wooden nickels, etc....something to think about. Quote Link to comment
Rupert2
I have done it before. It depends on what the item is. If it is difficult to get and something that I really want, then sure. Quote Link to comment
+GEO*Trailblazer 1
A metal one for a metal one. I have one that I got at the Lewis and Clark event in Wood River,Illinois a couple of years ago. But it is the only metal one I have ever seen. Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
I agree. A poker chip is a sig item, different than a coin. Metal for metal is what I've always done. I agree with the "no", but disagree with the other statement. IMO, the true geocoins are sig items not the commercial coins that are coming out. Not that I have anything against the commercial coins; I just see the personal coins as the true sig items/geocoins. Quote Link to comment

I've really cooled to the whole coin collecting thing (except for some very specific ones) because there are just way too many out there! In the "old" days (6 months ago), I traded my personal sig item (a coin) for others personal sig item (mostly coins, sometimes a poker chip and even one guys crazy shotglass! Back then, it was all good -- sig for sig. Now, with somewhere around 700+ coins out there (by my quick estimation) there are just too many to collect/trade for them all. Quote Link to comment
+Marky
I wouldn't trade a coin for shotglass unless the shotglass was full of tequilla. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
No. Wooden Nickel for Wooden Nickel, Chip for chip, coin for coin. There could always be an exception. Quote Link to comment
+Lemon Fresh Dog
I wouldn't trade a coin for shotglass unless the shotglass was full of tequilla. Actually -- the shotglass is one of my favourite sig items! It's one of the "old school" sig items. (like a Moun10Bike v1 or some of the other early items) Quote Link to comment

+chef_cache_alot
I would have to agree, metal for metal. But that being said already there could always be exceptions. Quote Link to comment
+Dani Du & the Muttley Crew
Not likey unless it was the coolest chip in all of caching. Edited February 12, 2006 by Dani Du & the Muttley Crew Quote Link to comment
