55303 Search Should Display Anoka Results

For some reason when I do a zipcode search of 55303 it displays Annandale MN and not ANOKA MN results, is there any way this can be fixed? I dont know of any other way to display caches in my area other then this.

The zip code search is only as good as the data GC has. Obvioulsy there have been changes to the zip codes in your area since the last time the zip code database was updated.

 

You can easily do a search on your home coordinates on the Hide and Seek a Cache page.

Wow, that is very odd!

 

I did the search myself really quickly, and it says that it should be searching Anoka, but both the map provided on that page, as well as the nearest caches all go into Annandale. Since these two places are NOWHERE close to each other (used to work in Annandale), this is seeming really odd to me. Yeah, that should be fixed.

 

However, there is another solution to your problem. When you log onto geocaching.com, there is a link in your profile that is "update my home coordinates". Mark a waypoint outside your house when you've got good signal, and then put those coordinates into your profile. You can then search for nearest to your home coordinates, along with filtering out finds. This should give you a good list to go from. Helped me a lot, because there was one cache across the street from me, but if I used zip code, the nearest was a couple of miles away.

Some zipcodes can refer to a very extended area of mail delivery, others refer to stations with p.o. boxes only, and others have designations other than those two--Zipcodes don't always nail down a location...
