+Sagefox
How about this.....hmm! ...it is then automatically archived would this be ok? Nope. The current system is working quite well. If there is interest in your area new caches will be placed. If not then you will need to travel for cache. Link to comment

+Misha
Misha, I'm going to create a rule that if you don't log in to the site every day your account will be banned. Will that work for you? Din't know about dat!! Link to comment
Jeremy
No. It isn't real. Just consider that by forcing you to revisit the site or something happens is just as arbitrary as picking an archival date. We have a collective responsibility to make sure that caches don't end up being left abandoned in the world. There are many better real-world alternatives to solve issues with abandoned or unmaintained caches. Just pretending they don't exist by archiving them isn't one of them. +Super_Nate
The reason I see this as a good thing we need to grow, Not stay the same forever. I have to go a bout 10 miles to locate new caches, and I have friends who have to travel furthur than 80, he has 1431 caches found It is different...caches are archived all the time and new ones pop up as well. If you want something new in your area, I would suggest doing a cachelike this You live far enough away that another one of this same theme would be ok! You would have new caches popping up like wildfire. I think this is a bad idea, because like others have said...it is fun to see the logs from long ago. and it is rewarding to the owner to know that he/she picked a good enough spot that it didn't get muggled! +Super_Nate
Would you really want to see caches like this one archived automatically ? That is a pretty good example! Link to comment
+Moose Mob
The current system works pretty well. If there is a cache with issues, you can post an SBA log and the reviewer should look at it. You can e-mail the local reviewer, or contact@ if there are real issues. This process works regardless if the cache is 2 weeks old or 4 years old. Here in Nevada, remote caches can go for several years before anyone attempts to find it. The cache is still valid, and still findable. For each cache that an automatic exiration would be helpful on, there are 5 or more that it would be counter productive. Misha, in case you were wondering, it was a very valid question, and all the answers provided are valid as well. You can close this thread whenever you feel your question has been thuroughly addressed. Link to comment
+Team Perks
Uh-oh! I just realized that this cache is more than two years old! Clearly there can no longer be any value to it. I'd better hit that "archive" button post-haste! Link to comment

I'd better hit that "archive" button post-haste! Not to worry. If memory serves correctly, that cache has already been archived and reinstated. I believe it is good for another 18 months or so. +Allen_L
Funny the description specifically says Keeping with tradition, there IS a logbook to sign at this site. It is RIGHT there and very easy to get at. Please do not try to pry up or move the Plaque at all to find it. Link to comment

The next day a buddy of mine visited. I told him to bring a logbook with him to replace it. He said he had one with him and I asked him if he would "sign my name". He did. Hopefully that cache will be around for more than 2 years. Link to comment
+Allen_L
I always have a spare logbook with me. Right now I have a couple of full spare geocaches. One regular and one micro. And on topic I say "no" to Cache Expiry. Edited November 1, 2005 by AllenLacy Link to comment

+russell_53040
Move to Wisconsin. I was talking to the ranger the other day and there might be was not saying it was a done deal but there might be a one year limit on caches placed in state parks. Man I hope not. Oh and rules are meant to be broken. Link to comment
+maritimedriver
I have to drive twice that far just to pick up a gallon of milk. I would rather drive for milk and caches than live in an urban area. -But I would also like to see the density guidelines relaxed in the more urban areas. I have a city house and a mountain home. What can I say??? Link to comment

+Colorado Cacher
I would like to see automatic expiry on new caches, that would be a switch controled by Cache approval persons. I think that a two year term is great. Misha I'd like to see an expiry date on this topic!!!!!!!! Link to comment
