+Bill & Tammy Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Since it looks like someone has already proposed one of my other interests of model railroading, I will try my next hobby which is flying power kites (kite buggying) However, the category I would like to see are the locations where it is ideal to fly kites (large open areas, without power lines and turbulence from building and tree lines etc.) I know in the UK for instance there are a number of areas where this activity is banned on public lands so I think this waymark proposal would assist in locating good flying fields. Of course the listing would be open to any location that kiting can be done wether it is power kites, display kites, sport kites, fighters etc. Maybe I can get my fellow kite buggiers who own GPSr's to second this proposal.

+ibycus Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 don't know. You'd have to be very careful on the quality control end of things to keep this category what you wanted it to be. Too easy to end up with just a random list of fields, good or not...
+kbarhow Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 i think this one could get off the ground. u got my vote.
+az_pistolero Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 (edited) I never went the power-kite route, but I did Precision and some two-person ballet. Sure would be nice to see this one make it, but I think you need some different criteria, such as "there must be a minimum of [pick a number]kites pictured in the air on the field, along with your GPSr". Four might be a good number, cause if you were to see a team like Chicago Fire (are they still around?) flying on a field, I'd call it a kite field. Jon Edited November 21, 2005 by az_pistolero
