+AtlantaGal
I found this new coin in a cache today. Anyone else ever seen one or know anything about BSA coins? Quote Link to comment
Tandemaniacs
It looks like a military coin minted by coins and pins. Contact them. I'm sure they'll tell you more about it. Coins and Pins -Tandemaniacs Quote Link to comment
+AtlantaGal
Oh, it's a boy scout coin, not military. I just wanted to know if anyone had any info on it. Quote Link to comment
+4agers
You can pick them up at a Boy Scout store. Many troop leaders hand them out to a Scout for going above and beyond the call of duty. Very much the same way many military units hand out their coins. Quote Link to comment
+Cav Scout
I found this new coin in a cache today. Anyone else ever seen one or know anything about BSA coins? I found one of those in a cache in Washington state this year. Quote Link to comment
+Ladybug Kids
Looks like a "modern" variation of the "Do A Good Turn Daily" coins Boy Scouts carried with them as recently as the early 80s. A Scout would start the day out with the coin in his right-hand pocket and if he performed a good deed (a "good turn") without being recognized for it, he would move the coin to his left-hand pocket. The coin's purpose is to serve as a reminder for the Scout to perform daily selfless service. 4agers may be closer to the mark for this specific coin with their post regarding the coin as being presented by a leader to a scout as a token of recognition.
