Crash-n-Burn
I can pick up a Rino 530 for about $400 or GPSMAP-60CS for $346. I see the Rino does not have an external Ant. hookup and the batteries don't last as long and the display is smaller too. I want to be able to use it while in my car, would I need an Ext. Ant. hookup? I don't think I will run into anyone using a Rino so the position-reporting capability is of little use. Edited October 22, 2005 by Crash-n-Burn Quote Link to comment
Delaypat
Go with the 60CS Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Unless you have a real need for the Rino's features, I'd go with the 60CS. Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
The 60CS is easier to use, than a Rino, with more buttons, I believe. Quote Link to comment
+DarrylW4
I just got a pair of Rinos (520 & 530) and have started to make some observations. Unless you have a use for the radio functions (which are VERY nice), I would recommend against the Rinos. The thread on the 520/530s can be found here. Quote Link to comment
+Night Stalker
Go with the 60CS or 60C. You will not need an external antenna except for specific vehicles. I have found many Pontiacs and Buicks have a coating on the windshield that blocks reception. I use an external antenna when I am renting one of those vehicles. Quote Link to comment
kg4kpg
60cs all the way! I only have a Rino 130 but wish i had gotten the 60cs. So, when I get home from Iraq I will sell my Rino and get the 60cs like I should have done in the first place. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with it, I just didn't realize until too late how much I didn't or don't use the radio but still go through batteries. I'll sell my Rino 130 right now to a good price. Includes two bash guards. I have the cable but it is in my foot locker which is already on it's way back home. Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
Not totally OT, but here is a list of vehicles that are likely to need an external GPS antenna. (Yes, this is from a toll tag site, but the same principles apply). Edit: Must learn to type! Edited October 24, 2005 by Sputnik 57 Quote Link to comment
