+Rockin Roddy
OFF TOPIC, but needs mentioning!! WARNING: If you haven't heard yet, be on the guard against the new virus called the SNOPES virus!! DO NOT open any emails with an attachment marked "POSTCARD", regardless of who sent it to you! This virus will erase your "C" drive...and will come from someone you KNOW!! With all the emailing we all do from these forums, this warning seems like it NEEDS to be made here, if the mods disagree, please forgive me! Google SNOPES for more info...and BE CAREFUL. This virus was called the most dangerous to date and was just identified by Microsoft yesterday. There is NO fix for this virus as yet!! IF YOU GET ONE OF THESE EMAILS: Do NOT open, SHUT DOWN your computer immediately! This info came from a very reliable source BUT, if you have ANY questions, you should google SNOPES for first-hand info! Now...back to your regularly scheduled mail!! If you have questions, do a google search and find the info, it's there and easy to get to. THIS IS a real virus (as far as my and all other sources I've checked say). I'm just asking you to be careful! AND, for crying out loud, if you know anything about this, please share. Knowing the danger and how to protect is important. Not having your computer so you can visit the forums would bum me out, I'd miss anyone affected! Oh, and a cold morning for us, so late work...YIPPEEE!!!!! Again, sorry about this being off-topic. Computer safety is important for all who post here, so it seems like a proper message (to me at least). Edited May 19, 2008 by Rockin Roddy Quote Link to comment

It's not necessary to do so, these things can be spotted a mile off The sad thing is that folks perpetuate them and a whole lot of time is wasted by people who get taken in. They are an unbelievably effective way of wasting peoples time and bandwidth, almost as good as real viruses or con-tricks. Sadly the sources are often those that you should be able to regard as reliable, I'm really amazed by some of the highly intelligent people that have hit send before they've thought about it or even done the websearch that they are asking you to do to prove them right I suggest that Roddy gives whoever passed this onto him a really hard time over it, it should provide ammo for a good deal of leg-pulling Quote Link to comment

My two sources checked (McAfee and Snopes.com) have this as real but not overly new. At the bottom is where the virus name is located. Snopes says this is real, but not new (at the very bottom). ANYWAY...glad it's not as serious as I had believed and sad that I too was caught by the ploy (no, not hitting open or anything, just sucked into passing on the info). I WILL give my source a hard time though, she deserves it lol NOW, back to your regular mail programming!! Quote Link to comment

+Steinwälzer
Ooooh, I've been away from the forum for too long... I was on holidays with no internet connection, and after that I thought it was a good idea to stay away from the forum because I don't have the money for all the beautiful new coins anyway. I was surprised how easy it was after a week without internet connections. I didn't read the newsletter mails from the coin shops, too. Seems that I missed a lot of great coins, and a lot of great stories First, I received all my "missing" coins during my holidays. My Mermaid Swag coins and my Tatanka Pejula coins, my Hammer of Thor coins, my Chili Cook Event coins, and a little group of green little Nerds! I have to say a big thank you to someone, as I received 10 Nerds and ordered only 7 I don't know who paid for the extra 3, but THANK YOU whoever did it And of course thank you for the extra Mystery Nerd During my holiday I attended the 3rd Walpurgis Event where I got myself the new Walpurgis coins, and was able to trade for the 2008 Norwegian Coin And that was the end of my "coin activity" for now, until I have a job. There are a few promised trades that were arranged long ago, but no new coins at the moment for me... So I wasn't expecting something for me when I went to the mailbox today, and was more than surprised to find a bubble mailer for me Oh my god, a new mystery coin that I didn't even knew about Thanks a lot, Goofy Cacher!!!
