+raptnblue
Hi, new to caching, and am having a heck of a time downloading and running GSAK. I have a 6 month old Dell 8400, lots of disc space etc, and have disabled my Norton Internet Security for the downlaod and install. Everything keeps locking up!!!! Everytime I click on GSAK it locks up, when I try to take it of the system, I can't get rid of it!! Please help! Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
What Anti-virus program do you have? Does it actively scan the folder GSAK is in? If so, you have to change that setting. Norton is notorious for causing problems. I use the free AVG Anti-virus and the free Zone Alarm and have never had problems installing GSAK or its updates. Welcome to the addiction . . . er . . . sport. Quote Link to comment
+raptnblue
....Not kidding about the addiction...Geez. Haven't been on a hunt yet except for all the stuff I think I "need" before I go. Having a freaking blast!! Quote Link to comment
+raptnblue
Ok. dumba** here, can't figure where to change that. It has like a Auto protect setting and the only thing it will let me change is what file types and they are like Greek. Quote Link to comment

However, I would suggest you search the Forums. I know this has come up before. You will probably find a thread that explains how to exempt certain folders from the virus scanning. (If it was my computer, I would download AVG Anti-virus and Zone Alarm and uninstall Norton.) Edit to add quote . . . Edited October 15, 2005 by Miragee Quote Link to comment
+CYBret
Moving this over to the GPS Units and Software Forum. You'll get some good help over there. Bret Quote Link to comment
+Cymbaline
Right-click the Norton icon in your taskbar. Is "Enable Autoprotect" checked? If so, left-click it to uncheck it. Try GSAK again. Work now? Fantastic. If not, post again or contact me via my gc.com profile. (Norton Enterprise user, unfortunately, & GSAK user on my work laptop at the moment.) Quote Link to comment
