Tb Design Method

I have recently collected a few railroad spikes from an abandoned historical line in hopes of making a railroad spike TB.

 

Any ideas that with reasonable tools I can make a hole, or make a way for the dog tag to attach the tag without ruining one of my precious power drills?

A carbide tipped bit should do the trick. You may also see if you have a local iron works or machine shop who might do it jsut for the pure sake of listening to the story of why you want it done

Could you just engrave the TB number onto the spike itself?

If you know anyone who welds they could add a small ring to it.

 

You could also use one of those heavy duty glues/bonding agents.

And if you had to drill, drill at the pointy end - it's thinner.

I like the engraving idea myself. It may not be easily seen as a TB though. Maybe stencel on the TB logo
