Varnsen & Vandelay Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Varnsen heads out for a cache. Im a newbie, but this thread sounded pretty exciting. So last night I picked off 6 Feet High, GCMWC4. This should do it. It was a bit chillly too
+Mopar Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Hey, no GPS in hand, but there ARE about 100 other pics posted on the event cache page. Oh wait, does it count if the minister is wearing his GPS on his belt?
+Atlanta Highland Bagpiper Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 I think it's a great idea,"kilt geocaching". Now the non-geocachers will not only wonder why that guy is going around in circles looking at his cell phone, but also why is he wearing a dress! Atlanta Highland Bagpiper
+Mopar Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 (edited) Ok, just to conform to the rules, here's one with my GPS and a cache. Edited October 15, 2005 by Mopar
+JWID Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 OK We'll give it a shot. Here is a pic of JWID ... the Mrs. JWID ... in her kilt. Thanks! JWID
+Right Wing Wacko Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 (edited) Here's Me and Square Bear Searching for a waypoint at a recent event here in Washington (GPS in Left hand) Edited October 15, 2005 by Right Wing Wacko
+M-T-P Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Please note: I am not Scottish nor do I own a kilt. But my wife did have this old tartan skirt that I put on before heading out after one of our lake caches. That's my etrex around my neck.
+Kilted Cacher Posted October 16, 2005 Author Posted October 16, 2005 Okay, since the official judging committee has yet to be named, unless it's just KC himself, I feel the need to point out that none of these pix sport any of the kilt wearers with a GPS in hand, which was one of the requirements. We had already found the cache, so we set our GPSr's down for the photo shoot I asked for the GPS in hand or nearby, so that I would know that the pic was not something pulled from the internet or somewhere else. I do not know what most of you look like and unless I see a GPS then I really don't know if it's you or not. I was hoping for a more recent pic, which is why I was asking for a GPS in hand. In that case, here's the log for this pic and the log for this pic and of course, the event cache where we took the pic I first psted to this thread Alright, I'll allow it. This is coin #8, 2 more. Send address.
+Kilted Cacher Posted October 16, 2005 Author Posted October 16, 2005 Varnsen heads out for a cache. Im a newbie, but this thread sounded pretty exciting. So last night I picked off 6 Feet High, GCMWC4. This should do it. It was a bit chillly too Good job! This is coin #9. 1 more. Send address for your coin.
+Kilted Cacher Posted October 16, 2005 Author Posted October 16, 2005 Ok, just to conform to the rules, here's one with my GPS and a cache. Haha, #10, that's the last coin. But since I am a good sport. I will offer a couple more for the folks that already posted above, but no more.
+Kilted Cacher Posted October 16, 2005 Author Posted October 16, 2005 OK We'll give it a shot. Here is a pic of JWID ... the Mrs. JWID ... in her kilt. Thanks! JWID Ok, is that a kilted skirt or just a retail skirt from the store, hmmm. Tell you what, I will send you a coin, if you send me one of your signature poker chips. By the way this would be coin #11.
+Kilted Cacher Posted October 16, 2005 Author Posted October 16, 2005 Here's Me and Square Bear Searching for a waypoint at a recent event here in Washington (GPS in Left hand) That's coin #12. Send address. Lots of Kilts out there folks.

But my wife did have this old tartan skirt that I put on before heading out after one of our lake caches. That's my etrex around my neck. Alright, last coin, #13. Send address. Nice job everybody.
+Kilted Cacher Posted October 16, 2005 Author Posted October 16, 2005 Ok, all, that's all the coins I can afford to send out. Total of 13. This was really fun and glad I started this thread. I really enjoyed all the pics, and some had me laughing out loud here (Moop). You guys are great.
+Mopar Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Ok, just to conform to the rules, here's one with my GPS and a cache. Haha, #10, that's the last coin. But since I am a good sport. I will offer a couple more for the folks that already posted above, but no more. Hey, thanks a lot. This was a very cool thing to do! Might I suggest you start a similar thread (minus the coin give-away) over in the main forums? I think it would be a blast to see ALL the kilted cachers, not just the first 13.
+JWID Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 OK We'll give it a shot. Here is a pic of JWID ... the Mrs. JWID ... in her kilt. Thanks! By the way this would be coin #11. Thanks Kilted Cacher! Very generous of you to extend the rules beyond #10. We'll send you two poker chips, one of the originals, and one of the new design that we just had made up since our first batch is nearly gone. We'll email you directly. JWID

I agree with Mopar as I know there are more out there. In fact in our club (RCGDS) I think there are more than 13. Edited October 16, 2005 by Oldhippy & Granny
+Team Rampant Lion Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Alright, I'll allow UKs, but you gotta have your GPSr with you. Just go outside your house and say 'your on your way to a cache' and take a pic. That should do it. Ok, 4 out 10 coins gone so far, who's next. By the way, here I am playing my bagpipes. Kilted Cacher Thanks for the coin competition, it's great to see so many Kilted Cachers out there. By the way, what band do you play with? I played with Midlothian Scottish Pipe Band out of Illinois (Chicago) back in the 80s.
+Kilted Cacher Posted October 17, 2005 Author Posted October 17, 2005 I haven't played with a band since 2000. This pic is of me doing my solo thing. The band I played with was the Kanawha Valley Pipes & Drums out of St. Albans, WV. I started with them in 1995, but left in 2000, due to alot of work conflicts.
Nudecacher Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 I'm just glad nudecacher isn't giving away geocoins Oh, hey. I could go for that. I hadn't tought about striking a bunch of geocoins before, but that could give me a reason. Nudecacher

+1stimestar Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Does a fur loin cloth count???? Maybe you should post a picture and let us all decide.
+ScoutingWV Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 I had no idea so many folks cached in kilts! I hope no one gets tangled up in briars or poison ivy!

+pdxmarathonman Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 1timestar - You need to go find some sunlight and stop digging so far down the forums
+LadeBear68 Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Actually it may have come from Snoogans starting a new thread in the general topic forums about Kilted cachers.
+maggieszoo Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 By the way, here I am playing my bagpipes. Hmmmm. You weren't in Chillicothe Ohio for the Veteran's Day Parade, were you?
SlytherinAlex Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 What is worn under a Scot's mans kilt? Nothing. Everything is in perfect working order. I'm probably the first proper Scot to have posted on this thread (proper you know, like born in Scotland), but this is the only picture I have. Sorry but I didn't have the GPSr with me that day in 1959. I'm cute though. By the way, watch out for the new Scotland geocoin which will be released by gcCOINS later this week. It's a humdinger. Alex.
+NH geobear Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 This has been great fun to watch - congratulations to all of the cachers who went out in their kilts...and I have great admiration for the Kilted Cacher who so generously gave of his own coin(s)! NH geobear
+TotemLake Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 What is worn under a Scot's mans kilt? Their boots.

+mousekakat Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Well a Scotsman clad in kilt left a bar on evening fair And one could tell by how we walked that he drunk more than his share He fumbled round until he could no longer keep his feet Then he stumbled off into the grass to sleep beside the street Ring ding diddle diddle I de oh ring di diddly I oh He stumbled off into the grass to sleep beside the street About that time two young and lovely girls just happend by And one says to the other with a twinkle in her eye See yon sleeping Scotsman so strong and handsome built I wonder if it's true what they don't wear beneath the kilt Ring ding diddle diddle I de oh ring di diddly I oh I wonder if it's true what they don't wear beneath the kilt They crept up on that sleeping Scotsman quiet as could be Lifted up his kilt about an inch so they could see And there behold, for them to see, beneath his Scottish skirt Was nothing more than God had graced him with upon his birth Ring ding diddle diddle I de oh ring di diddly I oh Was nothing more than God had graced him with upon his birth They marveled for a moment, then one said we must be gone Let's leave a present for our friend, before we move along As a gift they left a blue silk ribbon, tied into a bow Around the bonnie star, the Scots kilt did lift and show Ring ding diddle diddle I de oh ring di diddly I oh Around the bonnie star, the Scots kilt did lift and show Now the Scotsman woke to nature's call and stumbled towards a tree Behind a bush, he lift his kilt and gawks at what he sees And in a startled voice he says to what's before his eyes. O lad I don't know where you been but I see you won first prize Ring ding diddle diddle I de oh ring di diddly I oh O lad I don't know where you been but I see you won first prize
Tooeygeotrashed Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 What is worn under a Scot's mans kilt? Their boots. Any true Scotsman worth his salt will tell you - there is nothing worn under the kilt - everything is in perfect working order
+Eartha Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Wow, this cointest ended long ago. Where'd you find this old thread? We'll have to close it now, before we get a whole lot of entries on an old cointest, and nothing to win.
