Imbedding Photo Or Diagram In Cache Description Pa

I'll be listing a new cache soon and I'd like to include a photo and or diagram in the cache description. My question is how do you imbed a photo or diagram on the listing page? I've tried to cut and paste and obviously that is not the way to do it. If I need to use HTML where is a good site to help me with this. Thanks.

First, upload the image or diagram somewhere that will give you an address to link to. I often see people doing this directly onto the cache page and just linking to the image. You could do it on your own site too if you have one.

Second, on the cache reporting page make sure the "HTML" box is checked.

Third, put some HTML code into the long description.

Lots of people do this in table form so the image shows up in one cell and the text can show up next to the picture in another cell, it is a pretty sharp look. To do this you would want to create a table. Make a row, and within each cell tag put the image or text.

REPLACE ALL [] with <> when you do it

Text you want t type

Text you want to type

src= "website again"

That would give you a pretty sharp look for a cache page.

If the info in the picture is vital to finding the cache remember that  those who cache from a PDA can't see it.  It will just be rendered as <img>

And that is the price that cachers who use PDAs pay for using them Especially if they can't take the few moments to review a cache page before they download it to their PDA. It is dead simple to read a cache page and print it out if you need to. There is no need to cater to cachers who don't use due diligence when looking for a cache.

You may wish to resize the picture to make it the right size for your page. Original pictures are too large and will fill more than you probably want. Here's an example. The middle picture of the bridge was resized to 300 x 225 pixels before saving to a web page.

I think setting the web page to you own preferences is a lot of fun, a chance to be creative. I use it on all my caches pages. I knew little about HTML but was able to figure it out with the help of other cachers who know HTML and one or two web posted sources. Font types, underline, bold, layout, pictures, links, all fairly simple once you get use to it. Good luck and have fun.
