Lactodorum
Anyone who places a new cache from now will get an introductory note through GC.COM but initiated by Geocacheuk.com. Eckington and I asked Teasel to set up a system to send this information to everyone who places a new cache so that they get to know about the various local guidelines and resources. It is primarily aimed at the lare majority of local cachers who never visit the forums nor know about the extra UK guidelines. If all goes to plan the note should only be sent out once to each cache placer. So if you see it, don't panic it's nothing personal!! Quote Link to comment

+Simply Paul
Where can we see a copy of the content? I'm sure some old hands as well as newbies would find it helpful. SP Quote Link to comment
+wigglesworth
Great idea to have the introductory letter. However it may be worth while to try to get the mail to cachers before they place a cache. Better forewarned ! Peter edited for typos Edited October 11, 2005 by wigglesworth Quote Link to comment
+walkergeoff and wife
Yer tiz! Hi, Thank you for placing a new cache in the UK. The cache was reviewed for publication by one of the UK reviewers, either Lactodorum (Lactodorum@gmail.com) or Eckington (Eckingtons31@tesco.net) Before it was published the information on the cache page, the location of the cache and the proximity of the cache to others was checked against gc.com guidelines (http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx) . In UK we like to think that cachers will also uphold the UK guidelines (http://www.gagb.org.uk/guidelines/guidelines.php). Many of these are very similar in nature to the gc.com guidelines, however we would like to draw your attention to the following, nos: 1, 3, 8, 9, 14 and 15. The reviewers hope that you will note these and try to follow them when placing your caches. Other helpful links are: http://www.geocache.co.uk/ , for a plethora of useful resources and http://www.geocacheuk.com/ for, amongst other gems, Teasels amazing searchable stats database. and, finally, dont forget to visit the UK Forum! http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=35 for news, information, debate and scurrilous innuendo. ;-) If you have anything you would like to ask us please get in touch. Many Thanks and Cache Well, Lactodorum & Eckington User's Profile: http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=e1...1f-92136bd66010 ------------------------------------------------------------ Quote Link to comment

+Haggis Hunter
scurrilous innuendo. ;-) OH NO!! we are promoting innuendo's, there will be no stopping HIM now!!! No seriously, this is a great idea. If it helps furture cachers place better caches with responsibility then I am all for it. Quote Link to comment
+Teasel
Perhaps a little fine filtering might be in order ? Yes, I'm starting to get emails from people worried about what's wrong with their cache that I've pointed them at the guidelines. As a temporary fix I've added "This email is automatically sent out to all cachers when place their first UK cache." to the first paragraph. But I'm sure the wording will evolve slowly over time. +Munkeh
I think it should point out to use WSG84 map datum, something easily missed to a newbie with no friends Quote Link to comment
