+Airmapper
I want a can of spray paint that when I get done spraying the ammo can is like, mossy oak, or fall hardwoods. Any thoughts? Seriously, where can you get flat spray paint in colors like brown and green. All I can find at Wallyworld and the Dollar store are glossy, or flat in colors I don't want. I seen the Krylon camo system, but didn't really like it, I'm used to doing my own camo jobs with cheap paint. I used to try and get by with glossy, a deer will get used to it, a human will pick up on it right away. Quote Link to comment
+nittany dave
Home Depot and Lowes sell camo spray paint in a few colors. This time of year you might find it other places as well. I can't remember whether it's Rustoleum or Krylon but it is a common brand. Quote Link to comment
+cachew nut
Krylon at Menard's. Quote Link to comment
+Isonzo Karst
I was just in my local walmart - they had a selection of spray paint specific to painting camo - even had a couple of displays up: beige/desert type, and brown/green forest type, with the paint (flat) right there. +BadAndy
after you get the paint, try this: Paint the ammocan completely with flat olive drab green, let dry. lay different leaves and sticks on the can and spray it again, with brown. remove the leaves and stick and voila...mossyoak camo....kinda Quote Link to comment

+Airmapper
Thanks for the replies. The Wal-mart ultra flat paint, I loooked at the cap color and figured it wasn't to far from black. I had 4 colors there and seen they were all dark colors, I didn't think they would show as thier color very good. I might go ahead and give it a try, although I am trying to find some cheaper, I've found the cheap paint usually does just as good. The color I really want would be a dark brown, but not black. BTW, I've gone crazy with the camo tape on my small/ micro caches. Quote Link to comment
+EScout
You might want to contact this company and see where they sell near you. The place I buy it has a rack of about 15 different camo colors. It's specifically Camouflage paint, in 12 oz spray cans, and meets federal specification 595 color standards. The stuff covers nicely and is good quality. +Moose Mob
Also, make sure you aren''t looking at the paints for the model cars (hobby section). Those will likely be the wrong paints for what you want. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
I just use primer. Its flat. Quote Link to comment
Cracker.
Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer makes a NICE color to blend in with pines....Especially dead/downed ones....I usually use it as a base coat, then add light coats of black and olive for shading it... Quote Link to comment

+EScout
Kit Fox, thanks for the link to Aervoe. The technical data sheet was interesting. The colors are lighter than they appear on the site. I have used olive drab, field drab, forest green, sand and earth brown. Good coverage and very flat/no gloss. Quote Link to comment
