I'd like to try it someday. That's twice that you have expressed an interest in Photoshop. Good way to start is with an old version ... say version 7.0. Avoid Photoshop Elements if you want to learn image editing in a serious way. Version 7 would get you through the early phase of learning about layers, color channels, selections, and the basic editing tools. From then on you would be eligible for upgrades rather than full packages. Worth checking eBay for later versions that have a registration key. The version tree is Photoshop CS, CS2, CS3, CS4, and now CS5. The third thing is that there are educator/student packages at roughly half price. For that you need a qualifying educator or student ID. Thunder-4 (Randy) said that he was going to purchase Photoshop CS5 last weekend. Not sure if he did. He seemed very excited by the work I did on his Yrium cards and so wanted to learn the Photoshop ropes. Of course I'll be glad to coach you through the Photoshop essentials and recommend the proper books and Internet tutoria-links should you take the plunge. Be aware that image editing is, how shall I say, ... tedious. Edited July 1, 2010 by SD Rowdies Quote Link to comment

+Team Fatman
This just in ... This is too funny....at least none of our butts look big! I LOVE IT!! That would be perfect to hang up in the 'Geochicks Hall of Fame'............er, uhhh, well, if we had one! Great job pal, this is a classic!!! Splashette Not to worry Janie ... there's a GeoChicks Hall of Fame in my heart. Who would have thought that times would change so ... once upon a time gals had to be tricked out into the woods with that silly old snipe- hunting ploy; now y'all are out on the trails in great numbers to track down every last hide. Kiss, kiss, Harmon Nice job, Harmon! I'm kind of glad you gave up on FaceBook - there's too much fodder there for you to Photoshop! So are you suggesting that I should rethink my strategy? One thing for sure, searching for decent Facebook images didn't pay off that well, just found the three images I've used. Nearly fell out of my chair when that Heroines image came up in a search-result... couldn't resist doing something with it. Here's a little tidbit for you ... there's one GeoChick that is completely opposed to having her picture taken. Knowing that and thinking ahead to the Heroines layout I put my arm around that photo-shy lady and hauled her up beside me during one of the HoF group shots at the M*A*S*H event. As it turned out she was facing exactly as needed for one of the Heroines in that layout and she flashed a smile to die for. Can you name the Geocacher in question? Come to think of it, who can name everybody in that layout? Her name starts and ends with a D and there's 8 letters total, but don't want to give it away yet Quote Link to comment

You're a man of incomparable observational skill and thoughtful as well by safeguarding her username for the moment. I'm reminded by your response that she and I engaged in a little tug-of-war over having her in camera view for that shot. Randy took several shots that included that smiling lady, possible collector items. The un-named one definitely likes the shadows when a camera is around. Quote Link to comment

+SD Rowdies
This Just in – July 2, 2010 Renowned Geocacher and Kamikaze Herpetologist FisnJack from San Diego County was involved in yet another accident, this time on a forest road approaching the APE Tunnel of Light event in Washington State. His decision to drive the forest road in lieu of hiking a prescribed trail lead to an unfortunate encounter today between his vehicle and a stately fir tree that was doing nothing more than minding it’s own business as it has done for a hundred years or more. Damage was limited to a shattered rear-view mirror once securely mounted on the passenger side of FisnJack’s vehicle. The perpetrator abandoned his ill-advised plan to drive to the event using a forest road. Instead he returned to the trailhead parking lot like everybody else attending the event. Luckily a team of our Geocaching Forum field-reporters happened upon the damaged vehicle and affected repair using an array of slightly-used adhesive bandages found in the lining of their daypacks. The perpetrator was unavailable for comment. Reporting for the Forum: BlondHiLites and Luv2bake. FisnJack vs. Fir Tree: Guess who lost. Note to Self: If you drive into a tree in the forest when nobody is around do you have to admit it? Snakes: 2 Tree: 1 FisnJack: 0 Edited July 3, 2010 by SD Rowdies Quote Link to comment
+SD Rowdies
This just in - July 3, 2010 BIGFOOT FOUND! For years wildlife experts and hunters have searched the northwest forests for an illusive creature commonly known as Bigfoot or even more formally as Sasquatch. All efforts to track and to photograph the creature have failed ... until today. Two San Diego GeoChicks, BlondHiLites and Luv2bake, have hit upon a strategy to lure Bigfoot out of the primeval forest at will using baked goods. The two blonds from San Diego County also reported that Bigfoot actually speaks simple words and phrases in plain English although he seemed fixated on the phrase "Sprinkles, dammit, want sprinkles!"
