Suddenly it occurred to me that I was doing something wrong.

Harmon, are those the tracks of your invisible rabbit, Harvey, near the bottom?

Yes, you are quite right, actually my imaginary rabbit pal Harvey. Harvey

is a Mexican-Hairless rabbit and so it's best that you can't see the ugly

little beast. Worse yet he can't even speak English so he and I just point at

things. I hate to admit it but Janie and Jodi actually edge Harvey out in the

Geocaching companionship department because they both have plenty to

say when I'm with them ... if y' know what I mean.

I think that's my thread pattern at the top. :P

I suppose that I should start taking plaster casting of MTB tracks

so's I know for sure whether I'm following top-flight Geocachers or

just some weenie that's out for the exercise.

 

Here's what struck me as the weird part of this realization ... a MTB

leaves one single set of tracks from beginning to end of an outing

whereas a pair of boots leave something like 3,500 impressions per

mile not counting final searches for containers. I don't seem fair.

Kalahari Desert during the rainy season -- the thing that gave it away was the pride of lions hiding in the bushes.

Exellent, the odd thing is that all of the hippos are submerged in this shot.

It's also an area that I know I will have to visit in the near future!

Janie, you've got that right girl. Ain't nothin' worse than being caught

and squeezed by a Tireasaur ... once they encircle you and inflate it's

lights out. On the other hand a lion will leave you alone once he has

a loose arm or leg to gnaw on.

You know very well that I would never, ever plant a new hide

on MCAS Miramar property. You taught me well to be a good

little boy.

 

Well, you know, except for the two that I placed to fill gaps along

upper Sycamore Canyon Road that the Commie Pinko Reviewer

Guy rejected. Now there's two orphaned caches up that way ....

and a dollar-bill too. I'm starting to think that I am the front-runner

of the rejected-hide department.

 

Actually I was up that hill above the pond to "Walk the Line." Funny

what a person can get away with using Photoshop ... that reflecting

pond surface is a piece of sky from a much older shot in my photo

gallery. The actual shot wasn't nearly as interesting because it was

one of those days with a dreary, grey sky.

 

The latest hill-of-marbles hides aren't as slippery as that danged

bum-buster above "Hollow Tree," and nowhere near as long a

climb. It surprised me being a shorter climb, suddenly I was getting

too close the the Ragfoot hide just across on the other ridge.

 

One thing for sure, it was the first time I hiked five miles just to place

three new hides and no finds. For sure I've gone over to the dark side.

Couldn't resist posting that two-frame, vertical panorama of Janie

that was taken long ago. It surprised me to see that I shot two

frames for a vertical panorama and that the result could easily be

processed with a pixel-masking technique to enhance the otherwise

dull sky. Finding pleasure with Photoshop CS4 will seem strange to

most readers, I know, but it works for me.

 

Rainy days find me digging through the considerable photo archives

that I keep. You know, on rainy days it's fun to stroll down memory

lane.

 

I'll bet that the water-fall at that location is wortth seeing right now.

Nice picture Harmon..where ya been? We missed ya at the Hush Your Mouth Smackdown event. Resting up? I've been just too easy on ya lately..dang work....get out your mud boots I'm in town for a week.

Jodi darlin', I'm so glad to hear from you. So sorry that I was unable

to attend the Smackdown celebration, a long-standing commitment

kept me away.

 

My boots are all tuned up and ready to go. Glad you liked the photo,

I submitted three images from that area to Panoramio and the first

of them now appears as an overlay link (blue square) on Google Earth

if the Panoramio check-box is checked. The one that's posted is of

that mean, miserable, rocky hill that you made me climb and fall on

my rump just to score a find or two. Haven't checked today to see if

the other two shots are also posted ... one being the Reba's shot.
