Photographically speaking you should remove the

distraction of that other guy in the red tee.

That's always the problem, isn't it? If I had been the one taking the photo, I would have waited until the Red T-shirt guy was out of the scene. But when you hand off your camera to someone else, you never get quite the photo that you envisioned in your own mind.

(Thanks for the vanishing act...)

Once upon a time during the bygone film era I waited

the best part of an hour to get a shot without the

many distractions of a crowded location.

Now it's the least part of a minute with Photoshop

content-aware tools. Shazam! a distraction is either

gone or moved.

Seems like I've seen that kid somewhere before...on a milk carton maybe...?

Harmon bibbed and Nancy harnessed in 1942 while passing through Abilene,

Texas. It's a rare shot 'cause I have shoes on 'cause we were there to visit

my grandmother Ila Mae Reeves. Only got t' wear my shoes for important

social occasions.

Thang was that during WWII leather was a rationed commodity so kid's shoes

had cardboard soles. If y' stepped in water then the stitches pulled through

the soggy soles and so th' shoes were ruined with th' result that you got y'r

butt beat for being stupid enough t' ruin y'r cardboard-soled shoes. To this

day I'll take a DNF rather than walk through water for a find. That's why I

have such a small find-count.

Another side effect of my upbrangin' is that I ain't got no butt t' speak of.

This picture is from my mom's old photo album. It's a really big photo album

of maybe fifty large pages with an average of ten photos per page. I appear

in three of the photos.

So it goes,

Poor ol' Harmon

Depth-mapped carmel corn sphere on carmel corn background.

If you know how to decipher depth-mapped spheres then you

can be FTF on an interesting new style of hide.

By the way, depth-mapped carmel corn maximizes flavor and

crunchiness for a superior taste treat. Oddly enough carmel

corn kernels that have been depth mapped have a very long

shelf life and so can be used as Geocaching travel bugs and

even as tiny, long-lasting scouring pads.

In the words of Team Fatman, having served as a laboratory

taste tester, "Whooeee, them thangs'll shore clean y' out!"

My pleasure,

Sweet ol' Harmon

Hey everybody ...

I found a new Photoshop pal on Google+!

It appears you're having trouble with the zoom tool... :P

Hey! I'ma no toucha that image!

As a follower of this Forum thread you surely have noticed how cautious

and considerate I am when it comes to photographs of women. Respect for

the fair sex is my cardinal rule. Just ask around and you'll see it's so.

On the other hand I will take this risky chance to say that the tattoo

girl might just possibly benefit from a semi-regular dose of pork fat.

Just stopped by here with the Red Baron for a tune-up,

but now he keeps wanting to go UP! We did mow the lawn

for them while we were there, but they sure do have alot

of rocks everywhere with strange looking mowers sitting

around.

Thanks Pal!

Janie aka Splashette

Hi sweet Janie,

You and Red Baron surely get around. Don't know what

I would do without that shot of you mowing the

extensive estate-lawns of your east-county Baronage.

It's one of my two favorite shots of you. Hee-hee.

I'll bet that you caused a sensation when you mowed

into the JPL rover-test complex. You are a woman of

new frontiers, right up there with Anika Hansen and

Deanna Troi.

By the way, do you sharpen your own blades?

Kiss-kiss,

Sweet ol' Harmon

Twelve years old and turning a decent profit with Duck-Taped fashion accessories.

What was I thinking, wrapping roll after roll of Duck Tape around old medication

bottles then hiking miles into the wilderness to hide them under stones and in

trees and bushes?

Hmm, how easy is it to strip Duck Tape back off of a medication bottle to reuse it?

Just another parade that passed me by,

Poor ol' Harmon

James of LLOT surely gets around.

Hmmm...As I recall, you had used Photoshop to remove the guy in the background with the red shirt. It's seems that he was just hiding...

Ha! fooled you, there were two guys in red tees in that image but I removed

only one, or to be precise I removed one and added one.

Story of my life, nobody notices poor ol' Harmon. Spent half my youth on a

Greyhound bus trying to catch up with my mother and stepdad. I often wondered

why they always moved after I went to bed and fell asleep. On the good side I

developed a terrific sense of direction.

For some reason I can't figure out a LLOT photo is most-often used when I'm

experimenting with Photoshop techniques. It won't seem obvious from the image

above but in this case the experiment has to do with mirroring cityscapes so's

they seem to be at lakeside. All I need now is a cityscape image as opposed to

your rock-pushing image.

Probably LLOT photos are the most abuse-worthy...

By the way, have you noticed that the horizontal center strip of the image (both the sky/trees and the rock itself) are evocative of Mandelbrot sets?

See there, one of my most informed admirers if admirer you be.

That's the sort of thing that happened with the Iron Mountain

sand image I've shown several times; you know, with all of the

obscure but interesting faces.

Mandelbrot was a clever ol' fellow. I like clever ol' fellows.

One of those bells that now and then rings, just one of those things.

OUCH !!!! You OK after that ?

Can't wait 'til somebody begs for the hat-story. For now I'll just say that

I figured out a way to take my mind off of my painfully bruised heel. For

a teaser let me just say that it was the fault of Team LSD; you know, sort

Hey James,

There's some openings aboard tall-ship H.M.S. Bounty

you might be interested in. Lot's of rope thingies

aboard the Bounty for you to pull on.

Just so you know,

Harmon

I'm afraid that HMS Bounty is no more -- so there are no more rope thingies to pull on.

14 crew were rescued (including a former member of our crew at the Maritime Museum.) Two remain missing.

A few years back I put up a web site for SD Cache Event Team photos. I've had a lot of fun with it, but it doesn't see much use of late and it is time to retire it gracefully. I know Harmon uses it a lot, but Facebook has evolved as the more common way to share photos and comments about our favorite outdoor activity. If there are photos on the SDGeocachers web site you want to keep, just download them by right-clicking on them and choosing 'save image'. I will be archiving the site contents, so if you have a large number of photos you'd like to preserve, please contact me and we can work something out. Harmon: I've got your back, ol' bud :)

The web site will 'go dark' on 15 Nov 2012.

I've had a lot of fun with the site and I hope it has been useful for the Cache Event Teams over the years. I don't geocache much any more, but I'll always treasure my "first to find" on the DAK Girls' TOMB RAIDER cache. That was a tough puzzle cache and a great adventure!

I still get out exploring the San Diego (and AZ, NV, and UT) back-country quite a bit. I hope to run into some old geocaching pals on the road!
