Honk if you know where this is...

I know now and I should have known earlier as I used to watch this cache by his Lordship!
Where the heck is this? May be a silly question, but, this isn't real is it?

I guess it might depend on how you define "real". Everything you see in the photo is actually there. The skeletons are real skeletons. The clothing is real. The coffins...real but I'm guessing that they were purpose built for this tableau. The context in which all these objects were placed...imaginary, however, many of the characters presented in tale that leads to this place are or were real people.

Where is it? The answer to that question can be found many places with a little detective work. (But for the folks that don't want to work that hard, head on over to the Critters thread...)

Honk!! Its at 32-52.533 117-07.900

Aha! ... runway at MCAS Miramar. Somebody

went to see the Blue Angels, huh?

Nailed it! Good to have you back! It's been rather quiet lately...

Thanks pal, delighted to be home from a terrific tour.

Have five finds and one DNF to log so we can add Italy

and Switzerland to our profile.

Got our 5,000th find at what is claimed to be the most

popular hide in Italy; named "Coloseum."

Bonus: A popular local attraction!

I'll have to post the photo of the the fancy remote control that comes with the ones I saw in Japan. Using said remote, I discovered that when you are not sitting on them, the fountain effect can be pretty impressive. The opportunities for juvenile entertainment are tremendous... :)

If you go to Malaysia they just give you a hole in the ground and a garden hose. There is no toilet paper or any paper. I wish they had told me that before I shook everybody's hand to say hello. :) Anyhow, whenever I had a yogi poking at the hole, I would sneak off and use the special VIP "western-style" toidey in the front office of the factory! :D Edited by TrailGators

:blink:Yup...we missed you Harmon! This thread is back to normal.

Back to normal as in stuff you can't get on Facebook?

Glad to be missed by my GeoPals ... but now I've got

while I was away.

cb426f2f-2f5f-48a4-a1a4-074e5fe77776.jpg

Born in a board shack beside the railroad tracks outside

Abilene, Texas but look at me now ... cultured. I owe it

all to my sweet bride.

Yep, that's me all right, standing on the dock at the

Peggy Guggenheim Gallery waiting on a gondola to

haul us back over to Piazza San Marco ... life is good!

Only had one find in Venice but somehow it seemed

better than finding a dozen urban-micros in Santee.

You know, unless they are J&J urban-micros.

Turns out that my cultural tastes are not unlike the

cultural tastes of Peggy Guggenheim as you can see

from the sculpture shown below.

Yeehaw! ... culture is a wonderful thang.

Thang is that it's removable, you know, like Lorena Bobbitt

had in mind.

Is that where the Venetian urban micro was hidden?

I'm sorry to say that it wasn't but it's the

perfect place for a nano. Trouble is it would

cost you several Euros to get into the gallery

at a buck-forty per Euro.

Our Venetian find was a magnetic on a canal

bridge that had fallen down into the niche

where hidden.

Hey Jodi,

While we were at the Vatican Museum they had a service where

they would carve a statue in your likeness. I had them carve me

and I had them ship my statue to you in appreciation for all the

things you have done for, excuse me, ... done to me. Here's a

photo of the statue so's you can plan ahead on where to install

it at your place.

Notice that I posed with a cache-container in my hand. The likeness

is rather stunning don't you think? They refused to include my glasses

and my Tilley ... too much detail they claimed. I paid extra for the

towel but they didn't cover my butt with it. Sorry.

Enjoy,

Harmon

This just in for Photoshop CS5 enthusiasts.

13th Century Duomo in Siena

Thought you might enjoy seeing what a digital pocket

camera can do with a very large structure when you

are way too close to a very large subject.

This image was shot as nine separate frames; that is,

three rows of three frames across. Stitched as a panoramic

composite using Photoshop CS5 photomerge and then

perspective transformed and tweaked with puppet-warp.

Result is a huge image with unreal detail but reduced in

size for this post.

Italiano Dolomiti cave painting discovered.

While hiking in the Dolomiti region of the Italian Alps a couple

of weeks ago Sandy and I came upon a cave which we explored.

Therein we were astonished to find a faded cave painting that

drew our interest. We photographed the painting, of course,

and sent the photo to the Archaeological Society of Alexandria

by way of an email.

To our surprise we received a response saying that we will be

named as the discoverers for the painting and that it depicts a

male and female pair of Neandertal hunter-gatherers of the

type that roamed the Alps during the Ice Age. Plans are already

in place to open a theme park at the site with cable-car lift, gift

shop, capachino bar, and broadband access.

Having made this discovery Sandy and I enjoy the priviledge

of choosing common names for the figures of the painting. This

is an exciting moment for Sandy and I that we want to share

with you, our Geocaching friends, and so hereby invite you to

offer suggested names for consideration.

Very excited,

It is very interesting to note that the figures are depicted as wearing dog tags. It has previously been believed that dog tags first appeared in 1870 when they were issued to Prussian troops at the beginning of the Franco-Prussian War. If confirmed, this find of yours would modify history as we know it...
