Not much to say really...Marieke and I were in Atlanta her brother's 50th birthday and we couldn't very well not visit Laurie and Billy Bob while we were in the area. On the whole L&B have done well for themselves. They have traded up from their rundown SD condo to a palatial house with acres of land. On the other hand, a 250 cache pocket query has an 8 mile radius in that part of the world so that might explain the lack of smiles...

Do you think that this problem would pass muster with my sweet bride

as a reason to buy a new GPS receiver; you know, as opposed to

something we really and truly need like fixing an appliance or whatever?

Absolutley NOT..you can still read the letters on the buttons! I say go for the brushed nickel towel bars in the new master bathroom.... you're buddy JL

Try this:

Step 1: "Honey, my old GPS is a little worn, I was thinking of getting that spiffy new unit and going geocaching, but instead I think I'll just stay home and keep you company all day, every day."

Step 2: Enjoy your new GPS!

So now I have two very good but contradictory ideas on how to handle this situation.

Best I sleep on those ideas and find out what my pillow has t' say. In the meantime,

as you can see, I've devised a temporary work-around except I can't find my roll of

cammo duct-tape.

... found it!

Honk!! I was there recently myself!!

Rumor is that FlagMan caught a ride back to his vehicle. Not me, no sir.

Seriously Jodi, more padding for that throne. As it is I could rest every-

thing but my rump. Also I think I might have blown out a left hip-joint

during the trek. What next, after-market repair parts? All the oldies are

doing it.

By the way, if you think I was waving to you in that photo think again,

I was actually calling for help!

In truth it was my first chance to try a timer shot on my new camera.

Laid my GPSr down on a rock and positioned the camera on top of the

GPSr display-screen to level the shot. ... thus the wild oats in the shot.

:D I see no SOS in your hand...where's your photo shop skills? Are they rusty too? Now that you have found all the Harmon caches in Otay I better get busy with the "home trail series" that I promised...you know "Harmon's Sai Sari Store", etc....I haven't forgotten. Regards, your gal pal JL. :D

Can't think of a higher honor than being associated with that little filly and

done James, wanna become a deputy for the San Diego County Unbunched

Since we're piling on Harmon right now, I found this log in his "Throne" cache on Otay, I think. Can't tell if his little picture is some sort of smiley face or one of his many "nuns..." ;):)

Honk Honk, I jumped out of that perfectly fine plane over Otay lake about 4 yrs ago.

By any chance was that the same day that the Commie-Pinko Reviewer guy jumped?

If so ... you had your chance and you didn't take it?

It's Pearly Everlasting . Saw this one along the trail in Otay Eco' Preserve.

I've seen only one other Pearly Everlasting in our county, that one was

amongst the boulders of Wright's Field in Alpine.

I know y'all will be thrilled.

Honkity, Honk, Honk.................

I won't give it away, but we were waaaay down below this today. We did a cache close to the green strip of trees on the right, and continued along the dirt road, from right to left........well, until we went back, then it was left to right!

When Janie honks she knows what she's honkin' about. Yes the

right end of that far-away strip of trees is where the trailhead

gate is. As one can see it is a long way from that gate and up a

very steep set of hills to the place where the panorama was shot.

The reward is thirty-three hides on one loop but it takes its toll.

The really odd thing is that the only place my body hurts today

is the pads beneath both of my big toes. I sure hope that some

weeny doesn't put another hide way out at the end of that loop.

Fact was that I was about three miles from the finish at 4:00 pm

so I knew how much trouble I would be in at home. Sometimes

luck comes my way ... this time in the form of three young

Marines that popped up over the road-berm with their mojo,

tricked out Ford pickup trucks. They came in at the open trailhead

gate and started plowing through the eco' preserve but not on any

truck trails.

They offered to haul me back to my truck at the road gate and I

caved in and said "You betcha." Gave them forty bucks to juice-up

one of the trucks, thanked them for their service in the middle-east,

and high-tailed it for home. So that means that I must go back for

unfound caches, luckily placed along the easy part of the loop.

Sandy nailed me as soon as I walked in the door, big-time - "Don't

you EVER ...." When a woman is steamed does it mean that she

loves you?

Poor ol',

Harmon

Speaking of tasty things ...

569c5647-9af6-4b1c-a968-1186e325f384.jpg

Just keep in mind that a Cashew is not a nut.

Ironically, many of the things we call "nuts" are not, botanically speaking, really nuts, including cachews, walnuts, pecans, Brazil nuts, almonds and peanuts. Not only that, but most Brazil nuts come from Bolivia.

Something to keep in mind when you are munching down a can of mixed nuts.

Edit: Darn typos. They'll drive you nuts!
