JavaDuck
I was part of the (enter your own adjective) group that searched for The Bloated Festering Head of My First Victim cache last Halloween night (early morning). I know there was some talk off a return visit. Halloween is a Monday this year, so it would be a late night for those unlucky people that have to work that day (me, being one of them). However, I would be up to venturing into Ellylidan and Peg's abode again if some other brave souls were too. Anyone game? Quote Link to comment
The Jester
That sounds like fun. I missed out last year due to some miscommunications with the wife. Quote Link to comment
WeightMan
I might be interested. What kind of shoes (boots?) do I need for this one? Quote Link to comment
globalgirl
Last year at this time I was verily a noobie and reading of this escapade - I thought you were all certifiably NUTS! This year... I am so THERE! Funny how a year of geocaching can fry the brain... Quote Link to comment
hydnsek
I would also love to go, but not on Monday night, Halloween or no. If someone would like to make a Friday or Saturday night foray instead, I'm in! Think of it as Halloween Eve Eve. Quote Link to comment
WeightMan
I believe this would be on Sunday night which is why I missed it last year. I thought it was on Halloween night and it was really on Halloween Eve. Quote Link to comment
Wander Lost
Last year they went on Saturday night with the goal to find the cache shortly after midnight which would make it technically on the 31st. You could do the same thing this year by starting late Sunday night. It would be a rough Monday morning for many but hey it's geocaching. Quote Link to comment
TotemLake
I might be interested. What kind of shoes (boots?) do I need for this one? Knee deep or better. I wore knee deep boots along with waders. The waders added a second layer of protection in case of a trip to the knees. Quote Link to comment
Kiersolvd
If someone would like to make a Friday or Saturday night foray instead, I'm in! Think of it as Halloween Eve Eve. I'll join a group that will go either Friday or Saturday. Quote Link to comment

I'll join a group that will go either Friday or Saturday. Yes, that's my story as well. My earlier point was that I can't go on a "school night." So Sunday and Monday nights are out for me; I have to work next morning. Erik, maybe you and I can form a party of two that Saturday night, the 30th? We can leave the follow-ons some, ah, treats for the next evening. Anyone else welcome to join us, of curse. Quote Link to comment

Cav Scout
I might be interested. What kind of shoes (boots?) do I need for this one? You are gonna need hipwaders for this one. When I lived in Dupont my house was only 500 feet away from the cache. I cam to within 20 feet from the cache but stopped when the water came up over my waist. I have heard there is a way to the cache that is not as deep as the path I took. Have fun! Quote Link to comment
TotemLake
There is a direct route that doesn't require crossing the creek. I made it perfectly clear last year I wasn't willing to go more than boot deep if it came down to crossing any creek. Quote Link to comment
AndrewRJ
Funny. When I went I never got in more than ankle deep. How much rain did you guys get last weekend, I have been in California the last 8 days, but I guess a lot of rain would/could make things bad fast. Quote Link to comment
CurmudgeonlyGal
So, last year when the group I went with was rigged up in a mess of different stuff. Two in full wader style (you know... the overall kind), one in hiking boots, one in tennis shoes with, um, well, I guess you could call them gaiters, but they were really just trash bags (very funny stuff there)... and I just wore regular tennis shoes that I didn't care so much about with seal-skin socks on. Aside from falling forward and getting my arm pretty wet (just after making sure Blue Heron knew he was going the wrong way, of course), the water never went over my socks which came to about mid-calf. I can't imagine it would be very wet in there at this point in time.... provided you do some research or get some schmuck who's already been in there to tell you the right way in. You could talk to KFam... he definitely knows the wrong way. Edited for moronanity Edited October 5, 2005 by CurmudgeonlyGal Quote Link to comment

CENT5
I can't make it Monday night due to work. Sat or Sun nite and I am soooo totally there. Quote Link to comment
JavaDuck
I was thinking this would be a Sunday night trip, so we would end up finding the cache techinically on the 31st so a Halloween find. I have to work Monday as well, but being a teacher, it is already going to be a crazy day, so why not add a few hours of sleep to them mix. Regarding boots, last year I had rubber boots that were just up to my calves, and had no problem. My preference would be for Sunday night, so I can make it a Halloween find again. Call me crazy, for wanting to go foraging into a swamp late late at night, but hey I'm geocacher! Quote Link to comment
WeightMan
After talking to a couple of people who have done the cache, I decided to wear an old pair of running shoes that don't fit and were free to boot. I don't care if they make it through the night. I would being an extra pair of pants and socks. That should take care of it. Quote Link to comment
Allanon
Since I wasn't invited to the daytime trip by Prying Pandora recently (passive/agressive, I guess so)...I'd like to go either Friday or Saturday night... I'll watch this for what's going on... Quote Link to comment

LittleBlue
Ah, one of my favorite caching memories- wading into a swamp at midnight with a bunch of guys I'd just met... Hella fun! Maybe I'll come along and stand on the edge of the swamp and make spooky noises. The best part was going for a beer afterwards! Quote Link to comment

It was just a mis-communication/misunderstanding...I'm sure we talked about it at Red Robin after LittleBlue's Attack on Tacoma...it's OK. But since this post is sure to bring this years trip(s?) to the attention of the nasty Elly, I think I'll just wait for another time...no need to piss of a 'creature of the night'... +The Jester
Is this trip still on? Or is everyone going with Abby on Sat night? Quote Link to comment
JavaDuck
I still would be game for Sunday night, if others were interested. I have to work Monday (with excited 5 year olds). I'll be at Shopper's Halloween bash, if anyone wants to discuss details (or on here). Quote Link to comment
The Jester
The main reason I'm asking, is we're thinking of driving over to Spokane that weekend (another geo-event over there) and would be able to make the Sat night trip being discussed. It would make an interesting trip - drive/cache all day from Spokane and then a late night 'attack' on the swamp... Quote Link to comment
Wander Lost
Is this still happening? Quote Link to comment
JavaDuck
Sadly, I have to forgo meeting Ellyidan this year. I'm home with the nasty flu bug! Looks like I missed out on a lot of excitement last night though! Quote Link to comment
