+agneau Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 I know these proposals aren't being accepted at the moment, but I thought this was a pretty cool idea and worth floating around so that those greater and better than me can make something of it The idea came to me when i read this story about the bomb squad investigating a "suspicious-looking container hidden under greenery in a park pond in Paso Robles, CA" which turned out to be a geocache. I thought it would be interestting to visit the listing for that geocache. There was also this story about a geocache stopping traffic in Boise, ID. Now some local geocachers, on reading those stories will probably know exactly which geocache it was. So how about a Waymarking category where people can give details of news stories (preferably with an onine link) about specific geocaches as well as details of the geocaches themselves? I am probably not the only one who would find this interesting? Another example: a while ago there was an article in the independent where the journailst has a go at geocaching and tries (and DNF's) a geocache in London that I had previously found. I immediately recognised the cache as (GCGBGB) Last Delivery (London) by Jessex, a fact which other geocachers, on reading the article, may find interesting. i appreciate all this may have to wait until the procedure for new Waymarking categories is sorted out... but in the mean time, what do people think of the idea? agneau
The Royles Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I like the idea, drawing attention to infamous caches. This could be extended to allow Waymarking to be public bookmarks of caches. We could have Child friendly type, Extreme sports type, Disabled access type, and so on. The more I think of it, the more the idea appeals, with some work it could be a great tool for cachers.
