kewfriend Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Yep folks - its official - we're all normal. agggggggggggghhhhh !!!! Quote
Haggis Hunter Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Do you have a link to this, as I can't find one?? Quote
kewfriend Posted October 1, 2005 Author Posted October 1, 2005 I cannot find it on-line but its a 3/4 page article in the 'Weekend' P17 part of the edition 'south of the border'. Gives us a frighteningly good press. As the missus says - eeeek our two recreations - getting our kit off and geocaching are now mainstream - time to retire! Quote
Simply Paul Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 What's recreational about getting your kit off? I do it every night. SP Quote
Haggis Hunter Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 I have found the Telegraph's Screenprint page which has a link to weekend on it. However you have to be a paid member to view the page, which I am not one. Quote
The Blorenges Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 As the missus says - eeeek our two recreations - getting our kit off and geocaching are now mainstream - time to retire! .....uh, huh ....Do you actually combine these two recreations? Quote
kewfriend Posted October 1, 2005 Author Posted October 1, 2005 Do you actually combine these two recreations Ummmm .... now there's an interesting proposal. Given the truly tortuous places we have found some caches - errr - NO However a quick search of geocaching does bring up this Nude Beach No More in California so there's obviously more than one of us. I rather like the idea of that cache. Quote
Stuey Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Do you actually combine these two recreations? Someone else does.... Nudecacher's profile - warning, FLESH ALERT! Quote
Moote Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Do you actually combine these two recreations? Someone else does.... Nudecacher's profile - warning, FLESH ALERT! Now what else would you expect in the USA. Just wonder why Stuey goes searching these things out though Milton (aka moote) Quote
Duncan! Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Do you actually combine these two recreations? Someone else does.... Nudecacher's profile - warning, FLESH ALERT! You guys missed one... Ajo's Proflie Cheers, D! Quote
The Bongtwashes Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 This will annoy our children. They think I'm a nerd already. BTW don't know if we have a different edition, but its on page 15 in our copy. Quote
allieballie Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I have found the Telegraph's Screenprint page which has a link to weekend on it. However you have to be a paid member to view the page, which I am not one. EEK! I get the Telegraph every Saturday, and have done for years (why? long story! To do with ex-husband and cryptic crosswords but let's move on...), but I was away all day this Saturday and didn't sit down to read it until this morning. Pulled out the weekend section and there was this headline bit screaming at me "Geocaching Cut To The Chase". Excitedly opened it to the appropriate page.. was pleasantly surprised to read a reasonably positive article (at least compared to another one I'd read recently). Even more exciting (sadly!) was the fact that whilst on our holidays about two months ago, we had parked up to do the very same cache in the photograph, but had abandoned our plans as it was absolutely lashing down with rain that aftrnoon - still, it was a thrill to point to the picture and say "We were going to do that cache but...." . Anyway I digress, I digress.... HH if you still want a copy of the article just let me know and I'll photocopy it and send it to you! Quote
HazelS Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 can it be scanned and put on here?? I'm dying to read it!! Quote
Phil and Ruth Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 (edited) Not sure about posting it here but I've scanned it and have put it (temporarilly) on my website... http://www.philcooling.co.uk/geocaching/telegraph.jpg It's about 600k so will take a little while to download & please, don't go all hitting my server at once! You may need to use the "view full size image" command (or equivalent) on your browser (IE6 & Firefox scale it down) to read it properly. Edit: Just resized the image slightly - it's now around 330k but still readable. Edited October 4, 2005 by Phil and Ruth Quote
Simply B Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 (edited) The article is on the Telegraph website Health section here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/main.jht...0/04/hgeo01.xml Do I get a FTF certificate for this one? Edited October 4, 2005 by BandMandAandA Quote
Mr Nibbler Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 (edited) I read it on Saturday - and who calls the fruit of their loins "Linus" and has him saying "Wow" in a national newspaper? Am I getting old? [Missing question mark] Edited October 4, 2005 by Mr Nibbler Quote
The Blorenges Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 who calls the fruit of their loins "Linus" ? They must have just got the name wrong... surely the fruit of "loins" should be "linos".... or possibly "lions" if you have twins Mrs B Quote
Phil and Ruth Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 The article is on the Telegraph website Health section Health? No wonder I didn't find it! Accordingly I've taken down the scan so as to avoid any copyright issues! Quote
The Toughs Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Bought my GPS unit to use as a speedo for my kite buggy But having read this article the family are off at the weekend to find our first cache We may be gone some time Quote
Billy Twigger Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 who calls the fruit of their loins "Linus" ? Am I getting old? [Missing question mark] If he had twins would they be called Linux? Quote
Haggis Hunter Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I read it on Saturday - and who calls the fruit of their loins "Linus" and has him saying "Wow" in a national newspaper? Am I getting old? I think you are getting old but never mind the fact he has called his son Linus (may be a big fan of Peanuts), fancy sending him into the gorse bush. We spot our quarry, a green ammunition box, hidden under gorse. Linus crawls into the bush, Quote
Simply Paul Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Bought my GPS unit to use as a speedo for my kite buggy But having read this article the family are off at the weekend to find our first cache We may be gone some time Welcome to both a very silly, but great fun hobby (I've decided it's not a sport as it's not competitive. Is it folks? ) and the fun-n-games of the forums. A good place to get info if you can't track down what you want from GC.com's FAQs. Good luck with your hunting! SP Quote
